I like both Mortal Kombat and the Soul Series, and a crossover fic's been kicking around in my head.

Now, I know the Soul Series is set in the 16th/17th centuries, but MK is set in the modern day. The easiest solution is to go back into the MK timeline. If I remember, it was about 500 years before the games began that Goro and Shang Tsung started racking up their streak of tournament victories until Shang Tsung was defeated by the original Kung Lao.

So, little ideas I had:

1) Kilik and Xianghua meet up with Kung Lao and whoever else.

2) Shinnok's influence originally corrupted Soul Edge, before Algol took a shard from it an purified it into the Soul Calibur.

3) Raiden originally had helped Algol create the Soul Calibur.

4) Taki's clan (the Fu-ma?) interact with the Shirai-ryu (Scorpion's clan; I don't see them having too much to do with the Lin Kuei)

5) Zasalamel originally learned the secret of reincarnation from Quan Chi.

6) Talim receives training or fights Fujin.

7) The whole reason for the Outworld invasion of Earth is so Shao Kahn can obtain the Soul Edge.
