It's not black and white. It's pretty much saying point blank that sometimes the Dark Side option can be good and the Light Side option can be bad. It's a matter of context. TOR and KOTOR have always been pretty upfront about the problems with the black-and-white morality inherent to their only being two sides to the Force. I think the contradictions you're seeing with the Trooper are deliberate, meant to draw attention to why that kind of thinking often doesn't work for most people. Decisions are rarely ever that clear-cut.
Understand, I'm not saying you want simple decisions. But simple decisions are what dividing the world into Light and Dark drive us to, fostering extremes rather than negotiating common ground, and it doesn't work.
Which just goes back to what I said about having non light / dark side options. Because forcing full disclose or no information shared with allies might as well be black and white even if it does come with complications. That is the point I am making. The dark light side system is what is the problem is for non Jedi / Sith Characters.
Which is why I like the planet missions of Nar Shada because they are not simply dark side and light side. They feel like real moral questions.
the Jedi turned dark Jedi in the secret prison. The right thing to do is arrest him, but you risk a drop in moral due to the fact that people would know even heroes can fall to the dark side or kill him to ensure that the world does not what happened. Not much room for other options because based on how he looks it becomes obvious what happened and he sure won't be lying about his actions.
With Havik Squad you already know that they didn't just decide to turn traitor on a whim and since it is kept under wraps you should have the option to delouse some details without revealing they are traitors. It would come out eventually that your not being completely honest, but you don't have keep your allies in the dark about what they are doing because as one pointed out to the general it is not exactly smart to tell your allies nothing especially when they were not far from finding out on their own anyway.
By the second conversation when comes up regarding who your chasing after comes up the local forces tried to run the enemy forces through identification.
"When I offered to make Norea my third back-up girlfriend she just glared at me and started throwing things at me.." Renee CostaEh. Those are good moments, but I don't think you need to strip choices of their LS/DS points for the complexity of the morality to come through. On the contrary, I think assigning those values to the dialogue choices, and then having the game call you out on your decisions either way, that's a much more interesting way of making the player think about their actions.
The game does that for plenty of missions without needing to pointlessly add morality points to decisions. So I don't see how non force users need to be held on the same scale when it does not work the same to begin with.
"When I offered to make Norea my third back-up girlfriend she just glared at me and started throwing things at me.." Renee CostaFinished Chapter 1 for republic trooper and overall it was pretty good. I am going to guess the bomb schematics will come up later. Tatooine was probably my favorite story mission for the class especially since it does not force LS / DS points on decisions where they don't need to come into play.
"When I offered to make Norea my third back-up girlfriend she just glared at me and started throwing things at me.." Renee CostaNow that I finally have a computer that can actually run this game I'm thinking of getting back into it.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.My Jedi consular defeated the eternal empire. She did not become the new empress though. Also the fight with Vaylin was a lot harder then the final battle.
I do like the planet mission on Voss giving you a preview of events for the class story.
"When I offered to make Norea my third back-up girlfriend she just glared at me and started throwing things at me.." Renee CostaIs Kira back, cuz I really don't care at this point other than Kira & the rest of the Jedi Knight's companion. Especially since Rusk was only the one who came back. T7 was always with you (such a bro like most astromech droids.)
I never did get around to playing Knights of the Eternal Throne. From a combination of burnout, a bunch of good games coming out this year, and EVE scratching my MMO itch, I don't think I've actually logged in to SWTOR in 2017. I should do that at some point.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien. The Jedi Knight has had the fewest party members come back. Only Rusk and T7. Kira hasn't returned yet. In fact, the Jedi seem to get the least focus out of all the characters. At this point, for example, the entire Trooper has returned. They seem to be holding off on returning female love interest characters. Kira, Nadia, Risha, Jaesa, Mako, Ashara, and Raina have all not yet returned.
"For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die."Jedi Consular Companion Qyzen Fess returned and no else from that crew. Are you counting Zenith's datamine but not yet fully implemented onto the live servers? Where's female love interest (my Smuggler's wife) Akaavi Spar?

Feel the wrath of Coruscant!Yay, Qyzen!
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Yeah it seems like a lot of companions do not appear. The easy way to tell which ones are certain are the ones with an operation achievement. There are a few others that show up, but yeah most of the female romance options minus two if I am not mistaken are not back yet.
"When I offered to make Norea my third back-up girlfriend she just glared at me and started throwing things at me.." Renee CostaThat datamined Zenith content is years old at this point. It's weird that he never got reintroduced — there's literally nothing preventing it. The storyline seems like a good fit for the character and Troy Baker is already voicing Theron and seemingly half of the nameless NP Cs.
At this point, it feels like Bio Ware doesn't really know what to do with SWTOR. It's been declared non-canon, it already has a spotty reputation in mmo circles, and while it's still making money, I get the feeling that the writers are struggling to come up with new content.

"For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die."I do get why Jaesa has not appeared yet since for non Sith Warriors it is a matter of what version of Jaesa would you get the Light Side Version or Dark Side Version.
I am surprised that Lord Scourage or Kira never showed up since they do have a connection with the Emperor. Especially considering Scourage predicted the Jedi Knight would defeat the emperor.
"When I offered to make Norea my third back-up girlfriend she just glared at me and started throwing things at me.." Renee CostaPretty sure they cut out a planned third season in order to wrap things up with KOTET. I thought it was a pretty good expansion and pretty well told all around, but I don't think it brought in droves of new players looking for KOTOR 3 the way they were hoping it might.
According to Charles Boyd they initially planned to have a "Knights of..." trilogy expansion. So, you are correct.
Feel the wrath of Coruscant! The second story did feel a bit rushed compared to the first one. Makes me wonder other character chapters were originally planned before the changes happened.
"When I offered to make Norea my third back-up girlfriend she just glared at me and started throwing things at me.." Renee CostaI still don't know for life of me why Kira & Scourge didn't return for the final part KOTET. Then the next chapter has the Outlander choosing between the Republic & the Empire which completely defeats the purpose of being a neutral faction. On top of that there's a new threat which an army of ancient mechas? What exactly is the direction of this game again?
Also what makes this game have a spotty rep? It's an MMO, what exactly did it do that made it unfavorable compare to other games?
It launched with very little endgame content. There was only one raid at launch (eternity vault), three PVP maps, and a lot of the hardmode flashpoints were unwinnable thanks to glitches. That caused a lot of the playerbase to quit the game after a few months.
I would not be surprised if Kira and Scourge were part of some of the cut content. I also wouldn't be surprised if they were supposed to be part of a chapter if the third part since they would probably assume the outlander is the Jedi Knight and seek help since both would certainly be looking to ensure the end of the emperor. Especially since interaction between Scourage and Sith Warrior would be interesting.
"When I offered to make Norea my third back-up girlfriend she just glared at me and started throwing things at me.." Renee CostaYou have no idea how upset I am with how long they're dragging out Scourge from meeting the Sith Warrior. So much potential in that & yet here we are.
There better be a good reason why it's taking so damn long for the rest of the companions from re-uniting cuz my suspension of disbelief is thin as it is. There's no way none of them heard how the Outlander defeat the Emperor.
They probably had big plans for it (along with the new Sith Empress, Darth Acula or whatever her name was) that are never going to see the light of day now. A lot of funding was probably pulled after KOTFE/KOTET's big marketing push didn't quite manage to reinvigorate the game's base, so I kind of doubt we'll see anything that ambitious for the game again.
Then what can they possibly do at this point? With the Emperor finally being dead (good riddance to o.p villains) I don't see why they can do at this point. That evil army of ancient giant mecha is too absurd to take seriously.
Never said the answer should be obvious I just prefer not having to pick one extreme over the other when the story for chapter one should have more then those two approaches available to the player. Of course disclosing that an elite team turned traitor is the good, but costly option and hiding that fact is for the greater good.
Considering the narrative appears to be not cut and dry black and white for there treason early on it should not be the same for your choices in regards to deciding what information to give and what information to leave out.
