I'm extremely curious as to how the heck that Made in Abyss dub ended up. Even if they're less censor-happy and aiming it at an older audience, still... Even in America editing it to be anything less than R rated would be an impressive feat. And it appears they did do the whole of season 1 since I saw clips of Nanachi.
edit: Got to quickly skim through some of the more violent episodes of the dub. I did notice some cuts but some surprising things were kept. Don't know if any dialog edits were made since I don't speak the language. They did cover up a few characters like human Mitty.
This subject is genuinely fascinating to me and it's a shame there is so little documentation of this stuff in English.

Call me "Heruru Meruru". http://blue-star-above-me.tumblr.com/Maybe because Magical Doremi is a kids' show? You can say maybe they just have superpowers or something and people would've believed it. On the other hand, there's Naruto which contains a fuckton of taboo things and the magic there is more detailed, so you can't lie about the very obvious magic portrayed in the anime. And it didn't get censored or banned AFAIR. There were lots of chain messages warning people about its questionable, "satanic" elements and how it's bad for kids, etc. that spread on the internet, but that's about it.
I thought it was precisely because it was a kids show that it should be censored. I dunno. I am not a censor myself.
I think Naruto would have been more allowed because Jutsu arent magic at all. But I am not Muslim or Arab to know what is allowed.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.Naruto, if I'm not mistaken, aired on their sister channel Space Power which is targeted at an older audience. I guess they would have had a bit more leeway. On the other hand, Inuyasha aired on the exact same channel and had some censorship I can't make heads or tails of.
Here's a video with a side-by-side comparison (using Japanese audio).
Eh, I didn't watch in dub nor with subs. I just remember how people would overreact about the summoning circles in Naruto and connect it to satanism and warn others about watching it.
Yeah, I think you're right about that. Tho that sub-channel no longer exists now.
I'm Arab, btw.
GOD. The Jewelpet video is now almost at 6 million on Spacetoon. I GUESS magic wasnt such a bad thing after all.

Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.Time for yet another annual update (lol). Spacetoon is really kicking things into high gear lately with their Spacetoon Go app, recently adding The Prince of Tennis 2001 anime and My Hero Academia! Dragon Ball Super is also continuing with the Universal Survival arc - which will make it the first Dragon Ball series to be fully dubbed in Arabic once it finishes.
Naruto (and most recently Shippuden) also received a redub on another platform that's different from Spacetoon's cast. End of the day, it's good to see lots of new activity going in the Arabic dubbing scene!
Why didn't Spacetoon bother with Digimon Savers?
BOOBS. Same with Digimon Fusion.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.Which is funny, cause Lilithmon/Laylamon was actually made more reasonable looking. ...Then Mervamon came along. Hoo boy. I'm surprised the US dub didn't do anything to reduce her size. XD I guess they gave up in Season 2 or something.
...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol. They got rid of her talking vagina at least. And boob size isnt a concern as long as she covers herself.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here. There was enough gainaxing in the dub that the sports bra didn't do... much.
But there isn't much that can be done anyway even with reducing the size a bit.
...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol.Talking vagina???
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Ok it isnt so much a talking vagina as much as it is a Digimon that is placed over her crotch and talks. I couldnt find a video to show you.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.I know I'm late by like 2 months, but y'know Spacetoon should be glad Re:Digitize or Cyber Sleuth were never made into an anime. Rina is the thing of their nightmares
Spacetoon has long fell out of love with Digimon anyways. Which makes me extremely sad.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.I was thinking they'd dub Adventure 2020 (+ Ghost Game?) and Dragon Quest Dai to get in on the nostalgia after their DBS dub, but I don't see that happening.
Speaking of Spacetoon and Digimon just reminded me, I remember a weird Flash game on Spacetoon's website where you played as Takato running from Digimon Kaiser's attacks. The title screen and all were in Arabic (the name translated to "Gears Attack"). The handful of times I've brought this up before no one seemed to care. Anyone remember this game? I found it interesting Spacetoon would even create their own Flash games
Y'know Ajyal TV also aired anime
There's one at the very beginning of the video

I hate myself.I have an unusual thing here. I want to ask about this entry on Go Nagai's YMMV page.
- Germans Love David Hasselhoff: Mainland Europe (especially Italy and to a lesser degree Spain), Latin America, the Middle East* Mostly through Mazinger Z and its spinoffs there as the religious and sexual undertones of his other works see them banned or censored in the Middle East, the rest of southeast Asia, etc. He only really failed to take off in the States, though this changed a good deal with the release of DEVILMAN crybaby.
I know by heart by now that its Grendizer the show Arabs love the most. But I could be some dumb Western fan butting in where I shouldnt so I ask arabs here is this correct or should be changed to Grendizer?

I have a question... See, I heard that in Spacetoon dubs magic is, or was, UTTERLY VERBOTEN... But Magical Doremi was dubbed and the show explicitly shows the girls using magic... so what gives?
