For those of you who keep asking for a Sonic Adventure 3 (which, IMO, shouldn't come to pass), it should be mentioned that Unleashed was called Sonic World Adventure in Japan. Sure, it isn't an Adventure title per se, but I just thought I'd put that out there.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadSonic The Hedgehog 2006 was supposed to be Adventure 3; you all saw the trainwreck it came to be.
To be fair, Sonic Adventure 3 would be awesome now that Sonic Team apparently learned from their previous mistakes...
No regret shall pass over the threshold!True. I wouldn't mind the additional gameplay modes if 1) if it's not anything that's bound to spell trouble (i.e. Big and fishing), 2) stuff like treasure hunting is made more manageable and less frustrating, and (most importantly) 3) it doesn't overshadow the core Sonic gameplay (if I counted correctly, Sonic and Shadow's Action Stages barely comprise 1/3 of Adventure 2).
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadI, on the other hand, prefer one gameplay type only (get to the finish, of course), but with different abilities for different characters and stages that take the most out of each character's. I mean, I would love if Knuckles' gameplay in the Adventures was just like Sonic's, but with more enemies and the such.
No regret shall pass over the threshold!Lemme go through each one by one.
1) I agree. No Big.
2) Indeed, less frustrating Treasure Hunting stages and the like. At least on the normal difficulty.
3) I would disagree on that. Part of the reason why I loved Sonic Adventure 2 was because of the level of diversity. I found that 1/3 of the game to be ample enough. Sonic is not a genre, it's a series.
Indeed. If the main objective for almost every stage is get to the finish, I would like to see the main characteristics and abilities of each character incorporated.
Personally, I would like more levels with branching exits. As in, if you finish the Stage 4 at Exit A, you will go to Stage 5A. If you finish Stage 4 at Exit B, you will go to Stage 5B, and so on. Maybe not entirely different levels, but starting at a different point depending on the previous progress. Think Super Mario World for ideas.

Always looking for a good MMORPG with a great community...So... kinda like the branching levels in Castlevania III Draculas Curse?
That's... not a bad idea at all.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadOr how the levels are arranged in Shadow the Hedgehog, but less "morality system" and simply more branching paths. I'd be all for that, actually.
Of course, variety would be the key word here. A good number of levels in Shadow were pretty darn similar to one another.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadHave a modern sonic game with a boss at the end of every Level/Act Like in 3 & Knuckles.
Apocalypse: Dirge Of Swans.
Nah, I see no taint. Just overreactions.
Anyhow, Sonic Generations looks great, I don't really care about trying to do anything else with the series right now.
