Now if only the same would happen to Rushbo, Biffo and Glenno...

TO THE OLBERFARM!

But yeah, I hate massively outspoken douchebag news anchors on all sides, they don't even make anything into an actual debate. They just yell their opinions at eachother until they are out of time.

The only thing that pisses me off more is that most Republicans and Democrats are total hypocrites about this. Like a Republican who talks about how shit Olbermann is for those reasons, but thinks Glenn Beck and Rush are good to go. Or a Democrat who thinks the opposite.

All people watch this shit for is entertainment, so the anchor on their side of the fence can talk shit about the other side. I've seen NFL football fans with more professionalism.

Personally, I'm a big fan of Rachel Maddow.

[up][up]That's actually most of the reason I stopped watching him.

[up]I actually enjoy watching her because you can actually get your opinion-based news without being shouted at.

Yeah, Maddow seems pretty cool. She doesn't just jump down the throats of the people she interviews, she actually has *gasp* mature dialogue!

One of the things I find amusing about her (in a good way) is how, when interviewing someone who is "opposed" to her, she'll give the background about the person, introduce them, and then ask them "Tell me what I got wrong" or something similar.

Honestly, about the only place where I 100 percent trust my news is.. The Daily Show.

Sad, isn't it?

Jon makes it pretty damn clear what is sarcasm and mockery and what is actual news, and when he does an interview he actually talks about it, I'd love to see him have his own serious news show on a mainstream network. He can represent common sense.

I mean I don't agree with all of his views, but I know that if both of us ended up discussing politics somewhere, we could agree to disagree and listen to what the other had to say, with no rhetoric involved.

The sad thing about Olbermann is that he didn't start off as a crazy douchebag. I remember when Countdown started he was actually kind of likeable. He had Michael Jackson puppet theater, and Richard Wolffe hadn't totally dedicated himself to tonguing Olbermann's balls yet. It was those damn special comments that got him Olbermann rolling.

Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.

[up][up]You have pretty much just described the point of the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear.

Yeah, the thing is whenever I bring up Jon Stewart, it seems like everyone states that they like Colbert more. While Colbert is entertaining, he doesn't do anything really relating to serious discourse. He's funny, but he doesn't ever really turn off the sarcasm/joke switch.

But I will always love Colbert for wearing an ACU pattern suit and tie and letting a General give him a buzzcut. That was pretty badass. A liberal who doesn't have a negative opinion of us?! AWESOME.

I'm more of a Stewart fan because my heart skips a beat whenever I see intelligent discussion on the TV.

[up][up]Heck, I don't even trust that. The only sources that I consider really credible these days are my local papers, the diocesan paper and NPR.

I love the Ventura County Star, they are a really great local paper. They report on issues all over the world with good detail and sources, and just in general write really good and neutral articles that give you just the information, no slant.

I liked the local papers out your way too though, back when I lived in Rancho/San Bernardino while I was stationed at March.

Yeah. I'm an avid reader of the Press-Enterprise. Just about one of the few papers I can read that's reasonably informative and won't leave me wanting to murder the editor for such carelessness with the facts.

Ah yeah, I used to read that on post all the time, great paper. Wish we had it down here.

And here I thought I was the only one who didn't prefer Stewart over Colbert.

My college paper is also good, except for that one time where they had the cartoon of the Pope-Jew and a rather inflammatory editorial to go with it... (how bad? If we were talking about a rabbi, Hillel would be calling the writer racist and anti-Semitic. Strangely enough, as of yesterday he's now my boss.)
