It's not quite at 2:1. I would rather wait for another vote or two.
I object to any of the brunette names. Those tend to collect people with light brown hair which isn't this trope.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickIt was just over it when I bumped.
Yeah, unwritten rule number one: follow all the unwritten procedures. - CamacanThen it's still moving around a bit. Silly thing.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickThe guidelines actually say 65% last I checked, and 27:14 is 65.8%. If you want to get technical. :)
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee. It's now at 2:1 anyway. o.o
"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon StewartWith the vote right on the edge like this, it may be useful to start tracking the numbers so we can see if it's really stabilizing. So: currently +14 (yeas:28 nays:14) 2.00 : 1 in favor of a rename.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Current standings: +13 (yeas:28 nays:15) 1.87 : 1 in favor of a rename; only picked up one new vote (nay), but it's now short of a supermajority again.

One more yea vote since last time. Still short of a supermajority.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee. Now at +16 (yeas:31 nays:15) 2.07 : 1. Two more yeas, no more nays, in the last two days.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.I think we can call this in favor of "rename".
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.Agreed.
"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon StewartAs it's past 2 now, I'm calling it. Swapping for alt names crowner.
I really think we should cut the Real Life section while we're at this. It's a mess.

Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickPlease cut the Real Life section. If a person is born with dark hair and pale skin, that means nothing.
Forgot to say: the crowner was empty when I found it, so I tossed in some suggestions from earlier in the thread that seemed possibly ok to me, and grabbed a couple of options off the redirect list as well. If anyone has other names they prefer that I missed, please feel free to add them. I wasn't searching all that carefully.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Depends on the culture and the example really. But as it stands most of the RL section can be cut.
Anyway that Snow White Beauty Standard one really would not work as that would require blood red lips, not required of the trope and most of the examples don't follow that (especially the eastern ones.)

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Looks like it's pretty solidly in favour of Raven Hair, Ivory Skin. o.o
"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon StewartYeah, I wasn't expecting that either.
Not to stir up too much of a hornet's nest here, but am I the only one getting a People Sit On Chairs vibe from this so-called "trope"?
Being in a Japanese-produced work is not enough of a difference to warrant its own trope. The real life examples, definitely. The rest of it, I think it is a beauty standard, but I think the way it's written makes it sound like just anyone that has that colouration.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickI started to rename Black and White Beauty to Raven Hair, Ivory Skin as the crowner suggested, but then while looking at some wicks, I came to the realization that Raven Hair, Ivory Skin is really a poor name for this trope since it lacks the "beauty" or "beautiful" part of the former title. Basically, I think that changing the name to Raven Hair, Ivory Skin is just going to encourage people using the trope to mean People Sitting On Chairs.
I feel like it might be a good idea to deal with that issue before going through with the rename. I apologize for not mentioning this earlier and for messing with the rename without knowing what I was doing.

"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon StewartYour mistake comes from thinking I'm not just as a opposed to the other amazingly generic personal appearance tropes. I mean, seriously, we've got pages about common hair and eye colors... really? Those are tropes now?
So yeah... this is People Sitting On Chairs. It isn't a trope... its just a fact of life.
Being in a Japanese-produced work is not enough of a difference to warrant its own trope.
Crown Description:
At this point, the crowner shows consensus for a rename. Current usage figures:
