Frankly, if the trope name is the text, I prefer just using the ptitle markup so it's easier to both type and read.
But soft! What rock through yonder window breaks? It is a brick! And Juliet is out cold.If you're just making a plain text link, then using the tilde ptitle markup would be preferable, though I wouldn't say it should be mandatory. If you're potholing to a ptitle'd article, then pothole to the plaintext redirect (that way you can see where the pothole goes if you mouse-over the link); I think that rule should be mandatory, if it isn't already.
I think that last part is.
But soft! What rock through yonder window breaks? It is a brick! And Juliet is out cold. The tilda markup hasn't been working right lately from what I've seen. I just had to pull one from Teacher/Student Romance because the wiki wasn't parsing the markup correctly.

But soft! What rock through yonder window breaks? It is a brick! And Juliet is out cold. It's been working on the forums, but borking on the wiki.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickNo, it was Valentine's Day, but it wouldn't work on the page.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickIt is possible. It's not TV Tropes without weird intermittent errors.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickI prefer the unpunctuated title because I can see where it's going and it's it's easier to ctrl+f it.
I also happen to prefer to have all incoming redirects point at the unpunctuated with the ptitle only being used on Index pages.

Fight smart, not fair.Sooner or later, we'll get the ptitle replacement system implemented. From a functional perspective, if you're constructing a straight wick, then it's preferable to use the ~ markup. If you're constructing a Pot Hole, then use the unpunctuated title. Namespaced wicks have to use the ptitle code directly.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"
I've been under the impression that if you list a work in an example, you're supposed to pothole with the unpunctuated redirect while typing the name, such as So Bad It's Horrible but I've been seeing instances of people going in and changing it to the ptitle so that it's just the bracket+equals+tilde thingy instead like this So Bad It's Horrible. Should I be undoing this so that the highlighted portion shows the unpunctuated title?
