New guy here. I prefer Earl Grey, specifically Le Palais De Thes's Earl Grey Imperial, usually, by itself, or with a little bit of cane sugar.

You should try a good cup of masala chai I am thinking. It's not a very plant like and bitter thing. What with all the spices, sweetener, and cream that goes into it.

we got this green tea mix called "mystic forest" its kind of nasty, that's because my brother just puts the leafs in and pours water over them, and REFUSES to strain the leaves out

Ah. I have a teaball that I use to keep the leaves out though a few little bits of leaves get in. I don't mind those little bits. I do like to eat the leaves occasionally though...

There's a Burmese restaurant near here that has a tealeaf salad on the menu. I intend to try it sometime when I have a day or three that I don't need to sleep.

I would suggest buying a new one then and preventing this one from breaking.

Teaballs are badddddddd they don't let the tea leaves grow properly. if you're going to use loose tea, do it properly :D

Teaballs are only bad if you over fill them with the dry leaves.

Van, that's sort of what I'm afraid of. I'd greatly reduced my caffeine intake and I'm slightly afraid of what the salad will do to me.

I have a tea ball, a cup with a tea strainer, and a tea pot with a strainer...

Apparently I'm rather serious about my tea.

Speaking of which. Anyone here make their own Thai milk tea? If so, how do you brew it? I'm trying to get it stupid strong before the sweat and condensed milk is added, but wonder if I'm doing it wrong (tried a number of ways). Anyone have a method that seems to work?

I ate at an Iraqi restaurant today, and the tea they served with the meal was REALLY strong. It's different from what I usually drink, but I liked it.

How terribly fortuitous! I've just been experimenting with different teas recently. Hopefully having another type of hot beverage will help me break my coffee addiction.

Mainly I like those citrusy-tangy ones like orange spice and cardamon, but also general English breakfast tea. But I don't really know the proper way to prepare them. In other words, which ones are meant to be drank plain, which ones are good with milk and honey, which ones are good with lemon, and so forth. Also, I have their weird loose black dust tea from the Egypt that's not in bags and I don't know how to make it.

I'd say most teas are usually good on their own, though I think breakfast teas usually have a little milk added.

It's pretty hard to make a rule of thumb for the "proper way to drink tea".

English breakfast tea is really commonly had with milk, though.

I'd imagine the others you mentioned are usually plane or maybe with a little sugar.

My wife would disagree with that, but this illustrates my point.

You're going to have a hard time finding the "proper way" to drink a tea considering the differing opinions on what the "proper way" is.

milk is for coffee, not tea :P

IMO anyways, tea should be enjoyed black as possible, with sugar.
