The Mathematician's Answer shouldn't even be relevant, since the questions are supposed to be yes-or-no only.

I guess it is.

Is it based on a light novel? No.

a normal novel? Yes.

Is it the OP? Yes.

It has more then 26 episodes? No.

Does it have more than one season? No.

  • The song
    • has an individual vocalist who is not female
    • is not "Koi" or "Kaze no Kaiwa"
    • is an OP
  • The anime
    • is a TV series that aired after 2009, with only one season and at most 26 episodes, and is not still running
    • has a male protagonist
    • does not have a female protagonist
    • is not a mecha anime
    • is an adaptation of a Japanese novel (not of the light variety), which has won no awards I'm aware of
    • has an indeterminate demographic target
    • has both a Wikipedia article and a TV Tropes article
    • is not Detroit Metal City or Arakawa Under The Bridge
    • has not been professionally dubbed into English
    • was not made by Bones, Studio DEEN, Gonzo, Bee Train, Kyoto Animation, or Toei Animation
    • is partially a comedy
    • has a harem involved
    • has supernatural elements
    • has an art style that could be considered "unusual"

Has the original novel won any awards? I can't find any.

Does the anime have supernatural themes? It has supernatural elements.

Is the original novel a visual novel? What? No. I've never used the term "novel" as a superset of "visual novel."

Could the artstyle of the series be considered "unusual"? Yes.

Would you also say this series is... out of this world?

I'd predict that you're the person most likely to choose a visual novel, and then call it a novel when asked.

Dude, no. That'd just be blatantly misusing a term — "novel" does not include every other category with the word "novel" in its name. No accepted definition would. I've never stretched things to that extent; that wouldn't even be "stretching." The worst I've done is given a hint that, as far as I knew, only ruled out the second One Piece OP. (I consider the Mathematician's Answer fair game, since if it's applicable, the question is illegal anyway.)

Would you also say this series is... out of this world? No.

N...y...n...

I'm sorry, I don't even know which to use for a question phrased in the negative. I'm working with a language with a two-form system, people!

Let's try again, Is it The Tatami Galaxy?

Considering my first hint rules out one of the two songs used as an OP to that series, I'll take the actual song — "Maigoinu to Ame no Beat"/"A Stray Puppy and the Beat of the Rain" — as implicit in the question.

I had to think for a while to decide whether Hanuki, Kaori, and Keiko qualified as a "harem." I think it's appropriate to classify them as such, even if it's all in the protagonist's head. grin I love this series to bits.

All yours, Noimporta.
