At least one of those individuals thought there were doing the right thing. I am not sure if there devil incarnates in the world but when become as powerful as they were, would say that you would better than they are? Power corrupts and Absolute power corrupts absolutely. While there may never truly be complete monsters in the world, we often times create our own monsters through cruel acts and our surroundings. With that said, can we really say that we are any better than the 'monsters' we create? Hitler, Pol Pot and Stalin weren't born 'monsters' but were created and they became 'monsters' through the circumstances they went through.

[up]Yeah, but no. Saying "Oh; it's not their fault, it's the environment, we created them" is nothing short of utterly irresponsible, and a slap to the face of the numerous people that go through incredibly harsh shit on a daily basis, and somehow, do not become mass murderers or worse along the way. Do we really need that kind of hairsplitting about morality here, though? Seems to be that it would be wiki talk material at best, if you wanted to try and fix the trope itself. Trying to apply most of the morality tropes to real life just lead to the kind of empty "debates" that get us mocked. Life is just too complex for this kind of exercise.
