This L Per, Omega Edge 29, made a Kaizo Mario version of Super Mario 64.

And proceeded to Let's Play his creation. It is 56 parts long, and you need all 120 Stars to reach Bowser.

Only three people, including himself, have beaten it...

Are YOU up to the challenge?

His profile has videos and download instructions.

Meh, the Super Mario 64 editor isn't cut out for substantial romhacks. There are a few nice touches but for the most part he just stuck flamethrowers all over the place.

I was watching someone attempt it on justin.tv. Seemed even more aggrevating than regular kaizo do to the way physics work in 64

There's an N64 editor? Interesting...It makes me think of the possibilities for ROM hacks of current-gen games...

I'm attempting a play through. Mostly blind, but I'm using the lets play as a reference whenever things get too Guide Dang It! (second invisible cannon if you fire in this direction but you can't see it if you miss by more than a metre. WTF.) and for general strategies that I don't know about due to not knowing how to abuse the game physics. At least, I only do that after I get past an obstacle the hard way... Not too hard so far, but that could change very quickly.

Hmm, I dont think I have the right type of mario 64 rom, or something. He mentions it needs to be an extended rom...

Yeah, I ran into that problem too (which is part of the reason I'm keeping track of the videos - it makes sure I did it right this time) and had to restart. I fixed it with this. Seems to work so far, but hopefully I won't run into problems later again.

Just wait until you get to the timed puzzles. The game is nice enough to leave you just enough time to watch the blocks drop out from underneath you. At least level 1 is easy...

Still, 50 stars down and now I can check out Rainbow Ride and see if there's any hope.

The hack isn't as comprehensive as the SMW one, but it looks very Kaizo and I'm impressed by the creative ways of turning the same old maps into new challenges. I might check this one out.

THE LAST LEVEL IS INVISIBLE! AND YOU HAVE TO DO THE WHOLE THING ON A SLIVER OF HEALTH! GOD-DAMN it Omega!

I'm part way into the level, but have no way of knowing how far I have to go. At least some landmarks are visible... And, on the plus side there's no red coin collection. But there's no coins at all! Time to look at the original and see where I'm supposed to go (if it even is the same layout.)

^And Rainbow Ride is totally fair. Except for the freeze glitch in the red coins.

Can I assume that this is the HalfQuake Amen to Super Mario 64's Half Life?

Did he fix the typo in the final Bowser battle?

I got them all (though I found some interesting sequence breaks for some of them. I bet he never thought I would jump onto the star block in the middle of nowhere by bouncing off a Shy Guy instead of finding the block switch). I did refer to the play list a couple of times, mostly to check where the secrets were and to find the invisible cannons in a couple of levels.

Bowser in the sky has the same layout (thank god!) so I did it by loading the original level to find where to go. Now for Bowser, if I can swing him fast enough.

^What was the typo?

Well, I savestated at the end of the conversation. It's not there but I can't check the rest without redoing the level. It's probably easier to just ask.

I wonder if it's going to be any harder. The first one wasn't too bad, but he's actually changing the levels this time.
