Awesome. A lot better than I thought it would be.
I can't really get behind it, personally. It looks like a plain ol' Big Damn Kiss to me.
Rhymes with "Protracted."The main problem is that, IIRC, none of the panels showing what's bearing down on them (literally the destruction of their universe) would attach to that one well. In-story, that happens in, like, the last second or two before they're killed...the text panels hint at that but kinda obliquely. I have that issue but it's buried in the guest bedroom in a box and I can't be sussed to dig it out to scan it.

I honestly don't know which parts of the description are required for the trope and which parts are just Example as a Thesis crap. It would make this thread a lot easier if I could figure that out...

Rhymes with "Protracted."Bad news: Someone added a pic in while the discussion was still open.
Good news: It's fricken' awesome.
New pic has my vote.
Edit: And yes, I understand it's not an example. It just looks good.

First key to interpreting a work: Things mean things. If it's not a true example of the trope, it needs to go.

Anyway, I like that image a lot.

It actually is an example, I think. They look pretty close to the bomb; the shockwave could easily kill them.
And if I claim to be a wise man, well, it surely means that I don't know. The problem is that it's happening during a dream sequence in the work. It looks great without context, but it's not really an example.
First key to interpreting a work: Things mean things.Bumping.
Alt account of Angeldog 2437.I think that picture used to be the page image, and got removed on the grounds that it isn't an example. I agree it looks cool, but if it isn't an example, it shouldn't be on the page.

Reaction Image RepositorySince when has "it has to be an actual example" been the policy? I thought it only had to look like an example, regardless of it actually is. I think the Watchmen pic (is that the one we're discussing?) works well.
Avatar art by Lorna-Ka.As far as I know that's almost always been the case. It's not a good image if anybody who's familiar with the work in question knows that it isn't an example of the trope.
Reaction Image RepositoryThere are four strikes against it. First, it's a dream sequence: one of the characters is imagining the kiss; it's not really happening. Second, they were kissing before the explosion; there's no indication they knew it was coming. Third, in the dream, they both burn to ashes; the trope requires them both to survive. Fourth, I'm pretty sure they were already romantically involved, which apparently is not allowed for this trope. So it's all-around misleading and should be pulled.
Rhymes with "Protracted."The Rogue/Gambit one is probably the best is-an-example so far, then.
First key to interpreting a work: Things mean things.Clock is ticking. Do we pull the current pic or not? I'd be fine with pulling it.
Yes, pull. It's not an example and it doesn't show the trope.
Rhymes with "Protracted."Seconding pull
Yeah, unwritten rule number one: follow all the unwritten procedures. - CamacanReally I want this entire series of images from Chuck when Chuck and Sarah first kiss when they think a bomb is going to detonate, but pulling out a couple of key ones should do the trick...obviously need to screencap them out of them episode rather than use these ones, just showing them for illustration purposes.

I cropped off enough of the sides to take it down to 350 without any resizing.
