Also, there is a Character Advice thread you could use, if you really want advice on them. I'm planning on necroing it anyway.

That is the point. He is a deconstruction of the cliched bastard who wants to remain unknown. Essentially, you can keep away from politics, but as he finds out, politics cannot keep away from you. And having on again and off again honor in a crappy world like Gaia gets you killed.

Well, I have decided to post some of my character ideas for my Viandas novel to get your views and opinions. I have seen that my motivation for writing has been rather low, mostly due to a lack of a good editor. This is the thread for discussing the story, and new plot ideas I am bringing to the table.
Here are some new characters and plot ideas:
Planning Sheet:
Brent Andel
a young Blacksmith who carries the bastard name for the Viandas Royal Family. He is content with being a blacksmith, and transfers his allegiance to Johnson, agreeing to repair the gear in Xunov for the war. Ophelia is in love with him and wants him to be crowned King, something he refuses to discuss. Though the affair with Ophelia is torrid and driven by obsession with carnal passion, he is getting weary of it.
After Ophelia dies, he decides her ambition was wasted on him, and decides to become king, becoming reckless, abandoning his allies and forming a rebel army around himself called the Black Wolves. After too many indecisive political moves, he dies too, in the clutches of Ceres the Cruel, whose daughter's heart he broke in the name of his on again, off again honor.
Ophelia Cruner
a sultry young woman, a Pact Holder with Sebastian, the Daemon Prince, she uses Sebastian to kill everyone in her way that she cannot seduce. She is a very competent politician, and has the smarts, but when love gets involved, she turns very, very stupid. Carlos sets up her own ally as a traitor, and sees Sebastian, and links him directly to Ophelia. Sebastian abandons her, deciding her soul was not worth the trouble, since she disliked him and would never let him love her. Mattheu stabs Ophelia to death.
Sebastian the Daemon Prince
A demon taking the form of a pretty, effeminate youth, he can kill anything with his Combat Tentacles tipped with poisonous stingers. These can come from his arms. He is summoned by Ophelia, who wants to make it so Brent can rule the empire. From the start, he loved her, and yet she only had eyes for Brent in a very Yandere way. He was promised her soul in exchange for the assassinations, but finds himself conflicted in two ways. He abandons her when Mattheu aligns the circumstances to make it apparent she hates him. He never returns to Gaia.
Mattheu Viandas
The man who let go of the Crown Prince title for Johnson, which looked like a foolish move given Johnson's betrayal. He correctly foresaw Johnson returning to help protect against Prince Lucas of Phoebonon's invasion. Mattheu continually outwitted Ophelia in a chessmaster vs chessmaster confrontation, but he triumphed. Mattheu is commonly seen in the Deima as a rather smug, fat man pretending to be powerful, but he is not so harmless to a tremendous degree.
