So the official twitter for IS Archetype Breaker just updated with some info of the characters including the new girls from the game. Except for those already introduced in the anime and novels, the new characters are:
Huang Luanyin: Lingyin’s cousin (the two are identical personality-wise) and representative cadet of Taiwan. Even though she's younger than her cousin, she's in the same grade as her due to the Taiwanese government wanting to get a head start with their IS cadet before China(which Lingyin is representing).
Vishnu Isa Galaxy: Despite her name, she's actually the representative cadet of Thailand. Has great-looking legs that are made for kicking(Muay Thai joke perhaps?).
Rolancine Rolandifilne: Representative cadet of Netherlands. An Opera singer who plays Masculine roles. Is rumored to be a Yuri Playgirl with 99 girlfriends!
Onille & Vanille Comet: Twin idol singers who are the Representative cadets of Canada. Notable for being able to operate a single IS unit together.
Velvet Hel: Representative cadet of Greece. A rather high-and-haunty girl whose ruthless.
Clea Lukukhchevka: Backup Representative cadet of Russia. An eccentric girl who carries with her a teddy bear called Pooh-Chan.
This is almost certainly never coming over from Japan. Twins are the best of the new girls. It's weird that Rin's cousin looks older than she does despite apparently being younger.
Excuse me, everyone. I'm new here in this tv tropes website. There's something I like to ask of you. Do you really think that Chifuyu Orimura is really a "Jerk With A Heart of Gold"?
I asked because of her harsh, and cold personality. But I do admit that she does have a heart of gold. Despite of her own tough treatment towards Ichika, her younger brother, she actually cares about him.

Seems to fit to me.

Do you really think so? Does anyone agree with me about Chifuyu Orimura fit to be a "Jerk With A Heart of Gold"?
If so, then how about this on her character page?
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: As harsh as she may be, she does have a heart of gold. Despite of strictness towards her younger brother, she's actually care about Ichika because he is her only family.

Okay, first of all, that example needs some grammar fixes.
Second, Chifuyu never struck me as any sort of jerk (at least in the anime). "harsh, and cold personality" is not the same as being a jerk. You can be cold and harsh without being a jerk.
And third, what's with your fixation with jerk-related tropes, such as Jerkass and Jerk with a Heart of Gold? Nearly of your edits that I have seen are about them (the exceptions being a couple of Nice Guy and Nice Girl entries).
what's with my fixation with jerk-related tropes on the Chifuyu and the IS girls is the way they act. Including the way they'd treated the boy they love in Ichika Ormiura as they treat him with such violence, abuse, insults, and disrespect.

Looks like the LN is nearing its end. Volume 12 was just published in Japan, and it appears that Volume 13 will be the last.
Anyone still here? I've been keeping tabs on this series from a distance pending being able to dedicate the time to properly delve into it, and I've been wondering if the fact that high schoolers comprise the vast majority of known IS pilots (whether active or in training) has ever been explained or even commented on.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Hello there fellow Infinite Stratos fan.
I've been wondering if the fact that high schoolers comprise the vast majority of known IS pilots (whether active or in training) has ever been explained or even commented on.
Just those who study at the titular school. IS suit users that aren't from IS Academy are already in their twenties.
But isn't the IS Academy the primary institution in the globe for training IS pilots to begin with, by international treaty no less? It seems implied that at least the majority of legally sanctioned IS pilots are graduates of this academy. Also, according to Google TLing of the Japanese Wikipedia article on the series, IS "education" generally starts from elementary school for girls (boys start much later and, naturally, only on the technical side).
I guess the fact that the international treaty governing ISes expressly forbids military use of them and effectively limits them to what is basically/literally a non-lethal combat sport is a major factor for this treatment of what is by all rights a revolutionizing weapons system as something as "mundane" as a civilian supercar.

I was referring to past participants of the Mondo Grosso IS tournament because I doubt IS Academy was quickly established immediately after the Alaska Treaty, the international treaty you spoke of, was signed.

There's that but it wasn't in either the light novels, manga, nor anime.

Publicly, that's the case. Behind-the-scenes, not really. A fair chunk of the series basically involves cases that should have been seen as violations of the Alaska Treaty but you'll have to get into the series to see how that pans out.
Izuru-sensei is certainly taking his sweet time coming up with the finale. At this rate, I'm even thinking that this series will be Left Hanging.
I mean, I understand that he has health problems, but it's been, what, 4 years since Vol. 12 was published?
From what I heard, he apparently opted to "continue" the story at Pixiv.
I understand. However, those look like they're single self-contained chapters about a single character, while the actual main story is still left unfinished.
I appreciate the closer look at certain characters (especially Rin, who I think is criminally ignored). But I would also like to see how Ichika will survive the events of the last chapter of Volume 12. I would like to see how the final battle will go - if Charlotte will get a good showing with her new Rein Carnation, if Ichika will finally get his act together and if Tabane will finally get her ass kicked for the bullshit she pulled.
I would also like to see Natasha Fairs finally show off her IS skills, but I think that's kind of wishful thinking... XD

Say, does anyone know what "Stratos" in the title (and by proxy, the name of the eponymous mechs) means? At first, I thought it was a reference to the stratosphere, as in these mechs basically allow their pilots to fly up into the "infinite" sky as they please. But lately I've been wondering if it's actually from Greek στρατός (stratos), which translates to "army; military force", thus alluding to the IS being the ultimate development in warfare that trivializes every other kind of weapon and military technology.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. You may never know with Yumizuru. If he thought of stuff like that, he wouldn't have made that bone-headed decision to end the series (if he gets back to it) at Volume 13 because one volume isn't enough to end this.
I honestly think Stratos was picked because it sounded cool.
Man, it's still on hiatus?! Any idea why?
I personally make a point of never considering that as an explanation, because it's a bad approach to naming your work (and its eponym, should it be named after an in-universe element)... unless "I picked the name because it sounded cool" is an actual plot point somehow, then that's acceptable.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.I mean, "stratos" is a reference to air, and one of the primary advantages of the IS is that it flies. Plenty of planes have been named some variant of the same thing.
Honestly, it's the "infinite" that makes less sense. As a name for the series it works great, but it's kinda random in-universe. It would probably make more sense for it to just be "the Stratos system" or "the Stratos suit," and then the series stays Infinite Stratos.
Man, it's still on hiatus?! Any idea why?
More or less. Knowing why is problematic because you can only find him at Twitter but you need to know Japanese and asking why he isn't resuming the novels will be seen as disrepectful because there have been stories of fans being obnoxious about when is it going to continue.
To make it worse, Yumizuru opted to write a bunch of side stories you can find here in Pixiv. Again, you need to know Japanese to read them.
Wasn't there some stuff about him breaking his contract with MF Bunko or something, as well as harassing the female voice actors?
Considering the character who invented the whole thing and who is the only source of new IS cores, I can totally see her having deliberately added "Infinite" as a form of emphasizing that her invention has infinite potential and/or absolutely curbstomps all other forms of weapons and military technology, to the point that it displaced nukes as the ultimate determiner of military power.
I mean, seriously, if the first demonstration of the IS doesn't leave the average witness with the impression that they were looking at a weapon possessing "infinite power", I don't know what standards they're working with.

That was pre-Volume 8. Volume 8 onwards was Overlap, a separate publishing company.
Why is it that so many PVs for games are basically just, "You're getting a game of this anime, so we'll show some clips from the anime"? Although in this case, there were at least a few game screens hidden behind the characters.
