—Corollianus shook his head with a growl, setting his comm device to wide-band. —

-"This is Inquisitorial Stormtrooper Corollianus reporting: We have a stolen Leman Russ on the move, with a fugitive driving. Disable but do not destroy. We don't want to waste a good tank."-

—And with that, the base sprang into full operation. —

"Away from Meathead. Somewhere where it's not raining stones so I can drop you two off."

-She overheard the communicator-

"Great."

"Wait, why're you helping me? I thought you wanted to kill me, or turn me to Chaos, or something..." Drake was completely bewildered.

"I've killed more Chaos-worshippers than you've had hot meals. I'm not going to start helping them out. And I'm not going to kill anyone unless that guy makes me."

-She gestured towards Corrolianus-

"What...? But you're... I'm... the..." Drake began fidgeting as he tried to puzzle out the conundrum.

—The stormtrooper sat down at the centre of the tank, voice calm, but with an edge to it. —

-"If you'd stood down like I ordered, then maybe this wouldn't be happening." -

—Outside, the clank of heavy hydraulics and metal feet began, rapidly getting closer. —

"Call the dogs off, Stormtrooper."

"It's not like I can somehow tell which tanks have an abhuman lurking in them!" Drake threw his arms upward in exasperation.

-she turned and snapped at Drake-

"Perhaps you should have checked!"

Rocks continued to rain down on the garage, though slowly the rate at which they fell was beginning to diminish. That said, this had less to do with the fact that the roof had stabilized and more to do with the fact that it had essentially caved in at this point; very little of the ceiling remained intact, and a few of the smaller tanks had been buried under the deluge of falling boulders.

-"Got it. This is Corollianus. Stand down from anti-tank maneouvers and focus on rock-clearing."-

— He switched the feed to one connecting to Arcturus. —

-"Inquisitor? We've acquired someone that may be of interest to ya. A new abhuman, never seen anything like her."-

"I'm not being 'acquired'. Your boss wants to see me, fine, but I'm not doing anything I don't want to. understand?"

The dark force ceased probing at whatever was outside its chamber; obviously, for whatever reason its efforts were in vain. Undettered, it shifted its attention elsewhere; perhaps some other means to facilitate its escape would be found if it continued to search.

Its questing tendril snaked far and wide, searching for something—anything—that it could use. For several agonizing minutes, there was nothing.

Then the daemon registered a familiar scent, a mind it recognized from before its imprisonment; the crystal seal oscillated faintly as its captive occupant growled with nonexistant vocal cords. It remembered the Inquisitor too well; so Arcturus was still alive and kicking, was he? How interesting... this was a perfect opportunity to exact a measure of revenge.

The dark force sealed within the crystal began to focus its power, bleeding it out through the minute flaw in the binding matrices so that it would take a concentrated effort on any outside observer's part in order to detect its actions...

Zee had continued to follow the trail, and she had led the party almost to the treeline; now she paused, sniffing.

"The scent grows more diffuse here," she explained to the others. "I can still track it, but it'll be slow going at the moment."

Unnoticed by the Living Saint, something...odd was occuring nearby...

Arcturus quickly nods in acknowledgement to Zee before responding, quietly muttering his response in case someone else were listening.

"New kind of abhuman? Elaborate, soldier. And make it fast, we're trying to trace a disturbance here."

-"We found her inside a 'Russ down in the motor pool. Very strong and durable She attacked Drake, tried to hold him hostage. When I ordered Trogg to hit the tank, she got a wound corresponding to the dent. She's connected to this tank somehow, and she talks like she's got a combat record. Sir, we just escaped a cave-in above the motor pool, and the abhuman has surrendered. Further orders?"-

He makes a quick visual scan over his surroundings again before responding, nothing out of the usual showing up on thermal.

"Get to safety, preferably somewhere near the ship. We'll meet you once we finish up here, this will hopefully not take very long. Do not harm her unless she tries something."
