That completely changes Rose's character though? Yeah his plan is dumb but with the exceptions of Giovanni, Ghetsis, and Lusamine every main antagonist has a dumb plan. Not to mention that Rose wanted Leon to be the hero and that completely clashes with his characterization from what you've described.

It doesn't really change much of his character, he still want to save Galar, he still a wealthy man who want to help his land. The story just added the detail that unlike other regions, Galar people don't really care much about their history and legends. Rose wants to make new legend for his people and he would happy to let Leon be the hero, he being impatient is a combination of his selfish wish getting the better of him and other Gym leader found out about his plan, thus forcing him to move forward with the plan..

Also, in the original plan he was working with the siblings from the post-game. They just turned out to be frauds, so he pulled a 'Fine, I'll do it myself'.
Not that it's uncommon for this manga to completely change the characterization of some characters to begin with.
The manga also change Sonia character, making she quit been a trainer due to the pressure and negative press she got when she was doing her Gym challenge. Then she found her true calling in researching Pokemon's legends after hearing the story about Hoenn legend trio.

Been reading through Adventures. Recently finished FRLG and making my way through Emerald.
Not a fan of how FRLG ended. It was a clear setup for the next arc, but it feels odd in the same way a number of things the manga does in attempts to make itself unique. Also, it’s kinda funny how Red’s Venusaur unintentionally got shafted near the end.
Not a fan of Emerald (the Dex holder) so far. His design isn’t great and while I like the idea behind his gadgets the implementation feels awkward (admittedly I’m not completely sure why I feel this way). Trying to present the Frontier Brains as weaker that Emerald doesn’t help, especially since reasons for the first three’s losses (they’re not bad, just convenient).
Scott is kinda a dick, his reasoning would work more if it wasn’t for the the active threat Guile presents. Not just because Guile put Noland in a hospital bed, but because he abducted all of the Factory Pokémon.

Wally should have been Emerald. I mean Barry became Pearl in the DP Adventures series, so why not Wally?

Finally made it through all ten Collector’s editions, and it’s certainly been interesting.
In any battle series whenever a new character and old character meet a fight is expected, so is someone jobbing. Ruby losing to Emerald didn’t surprise me, but the battle was lackluster. Also, unless I’m misunderstanding Emerald’s Freudian Excuse is about his not wanting to view Pokémon as tools. It feels that falls flat since he still does so anyway just forsaking the personal attachment. His backstory also comes off as a jumbled attempt at connecting multiple points. The reveal for Guile was disappointing and not sure why Sird is representing Team Galactic here, though at least it’s more coherent than the Mask of Ice plot.
Nice seeing the Dex holders together, but disappointed Wally wasn’t involved in any form. Going to guess Emerald setting up breeding pairs is going to Gold more to do since he’s supposed to be the Hatcher.
Lati@s don’t really get much to do outside various Bianca cosplay from Latias. Don’t really remember why they were involved with Emerald.

Geez I'm not sure what's going on with sword in the newest sword shield chapter. I sure hope its eternatus poison messing with him

Gonna bump this thread since I have been missing out on this Manga for a long time and am now read-binging through it. Am currently at the Emerald Arc (absolutely loved the R/S one).
While I do very much enjoy it overall, I really don't get why they bother with the Levels, especially when supposedly low-leveled Mon can still fight and even defeat supposedly high-level ones, when the Plot calls for it.
I mean, Red's Pikachu is supposedly at Level 88 (!) now. It doesn't really come across like that at all.

Started reading Scarlet/Violet. I get it the point is supposed to lead to his development, but Violet is kinda annoying. Also hoping Scarlet doesn't get the short stick when it comes to focus since it seems already Violet took 2/3 of the main storylines.

Leader of the Holey Brotherhood
The manga Sword and Shield arc really improve a lot of plot point from the game. Like it showed that Galar doesn't really have local legends about Pokemon compare to other regions due to history revision of human and it make Rose goal less stupid. Like it implied that Rose wants to become the legend that his region is missing. He still want to protect Galar but he also want to recognition. If Leon defeat Eternius and save Galar, the Leon would become the hero of the people, not him.
