Adapting USUM must have been a challenge because it's so different from SM.

I imagine when Black and White 2 ends (probably in volume 55), DP remakes are already announced. Where Cynthia appears in Undella Town with the Sinnoh trio in their dp remake outfit. (But probably won't happen, since remake version usually get announced in May) And with the merchandise announcement recently, it seems like DP remakes will most likely come out next year. 10/3: It turns out 18 gyms for Sword and Shield isn't true. Although this seems to be a disappoint for many, for Pokespe, its a big relief.

Semi-related, but Pocket Monsters ends in two days.

[up] And thus ends the longest running Pokémon Manga. Hey, who knows? Maybe Pokémon Adventures may finally catch up and beat Pocket Monsters' record as the longest running Pokémon manga, thus making that Common Knowledge to become true.

Also, we have its manga replacement in the form of Ash and Go's adventures.

Geez, something tells me that this anime is far more game changing than previously thought.

It feels like a brand restructuring in general is happening with SW/SH. It makes sense since US/UM were billed as the 'last' handheld Pokemon games and an End of an Era with Rainbow Rocket and all.

Adventures may be the only long-runner left to keep the torch... if the Mangenka has enough drive left after having Gen V run through Gen VII.

Also, how's the USUM saga doing? And any plans on returning to Kanto?

For anyone that wonders how much longer Kusaka will write Pokespe, they should see his house. https://m.blog.naver.com/PostView.nhn?blogId=hanee218&logNo=220973897744&proxyReferer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F (sorry, its Korean, but shows his house) It shows that he even preserves every wrappers for Pokémon bread that he eats. He once said, "sometimes, people ask me if I ever get tired of Pokémon, and my answer is no" which was said in like 2016. As for returning to Kanto, in BW 2 they did state that they will bring people from Kanto and Johto to help. That might be in preparation for PWT.

Sword and Shield are apparently not named that. They're... Schilly and Soudo? What? "X" and "Y" were perfectly fine but we draw the lines at "Sword" and "Shield".

[up]To clarify, their full names in Japanese are 剣創人(Sōdo Tsurugi) and (盾・シルドミリア) Shirudomiria Tate.

Soudo is odd in that his name is in kanji when it's usually katakana, and Shirudmoria starts with シルド instead of シールド (Shield).

However the puns are clearly still there in both their first and last names. They're more or less called Sword Sword and Shieldmillia Shield.

I guess it's comparable to Lack-Two and Whi-Two's names being a corruption of the games they represent.

[up] Blake and Whitley were special cases. There's no way they could have been named "Black 2" and "White 2". That's too weird even for the manga. But reusing "Black" and "White" was a no-go too.

Again, I'm surprised that they didn't use the existence of the Ultra Recon Squad to justify alternate versions of Sun & Moon; i.e. Ultra!Sun and Ultra!Moon.

They might have wanted to avoid possible confusions with Swordward and Shielbert, whose Japanese names are extremely close to Sword and Shield.

Viz hasn't released SM in English yet, right?

The BW/2 arc has ended, and Ghetsis is literally the worst. He chooses to Murder-Suicide thousands and thousands of Pokemon, his own men and their Pokemon, and the heroes rather than become a prisoner, and when N still offers him a chance he beats him with his cane until he's bruised and bleeding, then apparently becomes a prisoner inside the Dark Stone forever.

As cited from here.

The arc isn't over just yet, and the dark stone stuff is just speculation.

Also he wasn't really trying to Murder-Suicide. It was Kyurem that blew up the frigate.

I wonder how Viz is going to translate Sword and Shield's name. Shield's name is especially a mess.

Well if two in game assholes hadn't taken Swordward and Shieldbert, they could have done something similar to that.

Swordward and Shield-a could have worked.

They could use synonyms for Sword and Shield, like, say, Saber and Aegis. I've always thought that this would've been the more elegant solution to the Whi-too and Lack-too debacle: just call them Alabaster and Sable or something like that.

They could just call them Sword and Shield and leave it at that.

I have heard X and Y were renames Xavier and Yvonne, with their names as nicknames. They could do the same with Shield and Sword.

So the covers for volume 54 and 55 have also been revealed, which will both be published at the same time this month. I thought Lack-Two would be seen with his black suit, like how Whi-Two had her Plasma uniform on in volume 53. One thing really interesting, is that volume 55 has a colored illustrated scene for cover, which has never been done before for Pokespe volume cover. It's usually illustrations of dexholders and Pokemon smushed together, but never a colored scene. https://twitter.com/karubiimunohito/status/1252181398242201601?s=20 Also, people talked about how Pocket Monsters has ended, but what's with these new chapter releases? No one in the english community seems to have an explanation for it. https://twitter.com/karubiimunohito/status/1255490840220352514?s=20 Okay, so I found out that apparently, Pocket Monsters has been moved to other magazines. That was really confusing with the mangaka making celebratory images with "Thank you Clefairy!"

I was thinking that Siward and Sheila could work as both are names of european origin and sound similar to sword and shield

So random thing I just learned: according to Bulbapedia, Y is only 12.

I figured they make her older like she's implied to be in the games so that caught me off guard.

Yamamoto has apologized for a tweet he made previously, which were intended to send a political message. He still supports the political movment. This is quite notable, where several Japanese sites have reported on it. https://twitter.com/satoshi_swalot/status/1259235162161770496?s=20
