@Rascal Yeah, sorry, I did mean the chick from Kara no Kyoukai.

[up] Oooooh, yeah. It would be a highly analytical battle then. (I forget if either character can just target a vaguely defined power, or if they have to know some of the specifics of the power before they can target it, such as the name of the ability or the method by which they work)

And another thing - Kumagawa's actually a really good fighter, it's just that he let himself get beaten up because it's fun to mess with people that way.

Of course, Kumagawa has Book Maker now, so I wonder... Hmmm.

@ Rascal (again) Wait! Where's the bit where Kumagawa says that Ryogi will have to wear a naked apron if he wins? XD

Still, I can see that Nasuverse/Medaka box crossover fics don't exist. This will not do. So much potential... Munekata vs. Gilgamesh, Medaka vs. Arcueid...

[up]Medarcueid?

Even with the M Eo DP, pitting Ryougi against Kumagawa is quite unfair*

. Ryougi has the Eyes, sure, but when it comes to physical strength, speed, et.c., she's only human (well, possibly borderline-superhuman. Jumping from building to building in Overlooking View, and all that.) Kumagawa managed to take out an entire room full of Abnormals is what was presumably a fraction of a second (given that one of them had Super Reflexes, consider how fast he must have been there.)

Now, pitting Gilgamesh against Kumagawa, there's a fight for you.

Out of all the Nasuverse characters, which ones would fit in the best with Medaka Box? Ideas:

  • Lio Shirazumi (Minus)
  • Fujino Asagami (Minus)
  • Zero!Rider (Abnormal, along the lines of what's-his-name who had Unknown Hero)
  • Fake Assassin (Abnormal, along the lines of Munekata)
  • GILGAMESH! (Abnormal, along the lines of Oudo)
  • Ilyasviel von Einzbern (Similar to whatever Shiranui is)
  • Shiki Ryougi (Not Equal. Remember her Third Personality?)

Any more?

A good hit with Bookmaker and you'd still have an interesting fight between the two. Just a fight more inclined to wailing on each other.

[up][up] Gilgamesh vs Kumagawa = Gate of Babylon versus Loads and Loads of Screws

And can we consider Reality Marble as the opposite of All Fiction?

[up] Book Maker is actually a very interesting ability — it's basically the power to force someone into your "shoes", and given how horrible Kumagawa's general state of existence is... In any case, it seems like it would be fun to see how a fictional character deals with being in Kumagawa's circumstances. Especially with shonen protagonists.

So yeah, wailing on each other. Assuming Kumagawa's opponent doesn't break down.

Speaking of Bookmaker... shouldn't Medaka be able to use it now that it's been used on her? That was supposedly her power that would make fighting Minuses troublesome after all. And if she could use it, wouldn't it instead "upgrade" to her level? And therefore complete the Flask Plan and/or the Awesome Student Council plan?

Or maybe the instant she got hit by it it canceled her power so she couldn't assimilate and complete it?

I wonder?

What would happen if the Medaka Box verse and the Kongou Banchou verse met each other?

[up][up] I believe that since Book Maker brings you down to the user's level Medaka's abilities were temporarily nullified when she got hit with it, since Kumagawa obviously doesn't have Medaka's The End.

[up] That depends. Will outright bonkers defeat overflowing manliness?

But wait! Medaka Box has HINOKAGE.

Anyway, going purely by power levels Kongou Banchou would win. Thing is, Medaka Box has plenty of crazy powers to circumvent that — as Akune put it, there's a bunch of weaklings that treat strength as if it was nothing.

New chapter! Apparently our cast isn't quite crazy enough to win this test of craziness.

Also, we finally get a kinda-sorta explanation for Kumagawa's screws. Supposedly it's a function of Bookmaker, whereby he imposes his circumstances on those around him. And this includes his delusions of stabbing people with screws. Or something like that?

I think I just preferred it when he kept an indeterminate number of screws somehow hidden about his person.

In a setting where someone can whip out a pair of machine guns with no comment more than "oh, its like that one guy who pulled stuff out of nowhere" it seemed to fit.

I kinda like it because it means that Bookmaker is actually interesting and useful, as opposed to the necessary downgrade he got from All-fiction when he became a protagonist.

"I reject your reality and substitute mine!" The only flaw being that he always loses in his own reality.

If Medaka were to use Book Maker, everyone would be brought to her level, which would be an interesting concept.

Really, I hadn't liked the current arc at the beginning, but it's really grown on me, especially Kumagawa. A unpleasant bastard like him. would make an interesting friend.

Poor Kumagawa. sad He just can't win, can he?

When they were all saying "A big idiot...who does things...without thinking..." I thought for a moment it was going to be Zenkichi pulling a Big Damn Heroes moment, having finally solved the puzzle. But I guess we can't go past a delusional magical girl to fight a delusional witch.

Am I... am I the only one who felt really sorry for Kumagawa in this chapter? Just... wow.

And eyepatch girl rocks. But I still want Munakata back.

And really I don't how the "fight" will play out next chapter. It's just so weird.

Like I said before, they're getting the non-existent magical girl to fight the non-existent magical beast. I just found it funny how this challenge's rules boiled down to "Pew pew, I shot you!" "No ya didn't, you missed!" "I hit you!" "Nuh-uh!" "Uh-huh!"

[up] And really, what Akune said was true: they can't accomplish the challenge because they can't take it seriously.

I was thinking it'd end up being a sort of logic game where you wait for the witch to contradict herself or actually give her no way to rebutt, but hey, no complaints so far.

Kumagawa's pretend sword was cool too. If I could swing that thing around in Monster Hunter... yeah~

[up]This is actually really clever. Anyone who's ever had a younger sibling will know that it's damn near impossible to win a childish, imaginary fight. Unless your opponent believes that they've lost, they can just keep pulling Deus ex Machina after Deus ex Machina until one of you gets sick of it.

So apparently Kumagawa finally won something. The character popularity poll. By a huge margin. Almost four times as popular as second place (Medaka).

Good for Kumagawa. That ranking, at least the top 3, reflected what I thought about the characters too, so I was kind of surprised.

What exactly makes Kumagawa so popular? I like him as well, but is he that awesome of a character (Richard, Deadpool, Soujirou kind of character)? I'm not really seeing why he's the best character.

But I'm starting to like this Treasure Hunting arc (yes I'm aware of the complaints on the lack of Zenkichi since he's my favorite character). But it's great to focus on the other two student council members. Akune has shown a very detailed backstory and he's become a lot more fleshed out. Hopefully, Kikaijima will also has some better moments.

As predicted, Kumagawa's the most popular. Hell yeah.

[up] I don't know about the others but I like Kumagawa because he's smart, twisted and quirky. He has cool powers, he has kickass analytical skills and he's really just fun to watch.

That might just be me liking crazy, twisted people though (my favorite before Kumagawa appeared was Munakata a.k.a. the guy who could pull weapons out of nowhere).
