Clark rolled his eyes and turned to Kieran. "Sometimes the best thing to do with a trap is to spring it back on the ambushers. Now shush, please."

A rather hopeful expression appeared on Kieran's face as he replied, "So we go in and then fight our way out of it with lots of bangs and explosions and hope for the best? My favorite type of plan."

She really did not like this. But there was no way out. Not without going back to her kidnappers. No, Avia would suffer this in silence.

She rushed over to catch up with the group.

"I'd like to remind the world in general that medics are protected under international law," Olivia muttered as she walked along, agreeing with Kieran as to how suspicious the whole situation felt.

Lita sighed and just got her shield charm up again.

RAF Minton

“Just have a seat here mate and try not to wander off anywhere yeah? They away team should be getting back soon enough, their bird just landed” the surly staff sergeant said to Allan before turning on his heel and sauntering off, thermos gripped tightly in his hand.” He sat on the seat and watched the base personnel go about their business around him, no one paying him any particular attention as they went about their duties with a clear focus.

Allan was only there for a few moments when the double doors on the side of the room opened up and a small group of men strode in carrying an assortment of bags and gear. They turned to one of their group for a moment -a taller man with a thick black beard and piercing eyes, before he gestured to another room and they then dispersed in all directions. It was only after locking eyes with him did the bearded man walk over to Allan, bag and rifle slung over one shoulder.

“You must be the new guy”

The group followed the ball of light down the corridor what seemed like a small eternity before exiting the hall and walking back into the great open area adjacent to the library. The grandness of the area was exemplified by the sudden light that swayed over it from the dozens of candles that hung in the air, fluttering silently as if blown by an unseen breeze.

“I was doubtful as to if this would even work” came a voice ahead of them. “Anyone in their right mind would know that this is a painfully obvious trap, yet here you lot are; out in the open.”

A lone figure strode forward until he was mere meters from from Clark, a man of average build, covered from head to food in a dark grey cloak that went all the way to the ground. He flicked his wrist and the ball of light zoomed towards him before blinking out of existence at the tip of his wand.

“So tell me, what are you doing here?”

"Well, as we say back in Rhode Island," Olivia began, placing her finger on the trigger guard of the Orator, "when the honey's so good, sometimes it's worth a few stings." She moved closer to Clark, both for moral support and good cover, and tried to look as intimidating as possible.

"Case in point. See, now even these idiots are taking the mick out of us. So can we just skip the banter and getting-together and stun him?" Kieran directed the question mostly at Clark seeing as the dark wizard did the same and he seemed to the leader of the little gang.

Clark rolled his shoulders. "Well, why are you here?" He asked the dark-robed wizard, pointedly ignoring Kieran.

Allan hesitated for only a moment before he popped out of his chair. He could see a leader when he was right in front of his face, he wasn't blind. He executed a picture perfect salute as he stood. "Sir, Allan Smith reporting for duty, Sir!" He said.

"Hey dude, cut that shit out" Warren said he tossed his bag on an empty chair. "Leave saluting for the conventional army, we're pretty relaxed around here.

"Wow, you heard Rhode Island, and you thought America?" Olivia asked, in mock surprise. "Well holy hell, then. You Whiskeys must be friggin' mind readers, or something." She snorted, "Go on, tell me something else interesting! Try to guess what city I grew up near, and how you knew it was Providence. Or, oh wait, even better! Which number between one and three I'm thinking of!"

Lita pressed her lips together as a reminder to not do something she might regret. Then she turned to the man, shield charm still up.

"What are you planning on doing with the thing in here?"

Clark turned to Olivia. "Please, shut up before you give him your whole life story." He said, then turned back to the Whiskey as Lita asked her question.

"'Snot like anyone else was going to ask," Olivia grumbled, shutting up like the model soldier she was.

"What is this thing you speak of?" The man asked as he ignored Olivia.

"And here I was thinking American's were shoot first ask questions later..." Kieran grumbled, his patience wearing thin. All of the other dark wizards in the building were probably hiding, ready to ambush them right now as they sat down for a nice chat with tea and scones.

His commanding officer, or the man he thought was his commanding officer, had just called him dude. Something shorted out in Allan's mind and he stood still for several seconds, hand falling to his side, then he put on a mask.

"Sorry," He said, southern drawl in full effect, "Can never be sure, you know? And once a Marine always a Marine, Semper Fi and all that."

"You know, that enormous oppressively powerful... Thing in the area that may or may not be awake and ready to eat our souls?"

RAF Minton'

"True, it's better to begin with courtesy than to have your impression start off on the wrong foot. Lets go grab some coffee, we can talk from there." Warren said as he helped him with his bags and walked to the mess hall. Finding an empty pair of seats among the mass of base personnel, Warren poured some sugar into his tea before he bag.

"So tell me a bit about yourself."

Catalonia

"Child, I would suggest that you disassociate yourself from issues that you have no comprehension of." The robed man said to Lita before turning back to Clark. "You're obviously here for a reason, and I believe it would be in your best interest to explain the reasons behind that."

Clark stared at the man. "Perhaps you should explain why it would be in my best interest?"

Behind his back, he flashed a military signal to Olivia: fan out, look for ambush.

Allan stared at Warren's tea. Tea, not even proper iced tea but hot tea.

Don't question it, you knew that Britain was weird when you took this assignment.

"Not much to say, joined the army out of high school to do my duty to my country." He said with a shrug, letting his coffee cool and mixing in copious amounts of cream in before even thinking of trying to drink it, "Went into the Marines, did well, didn't die, obviously, and got transferred here just recently to fight the wizards." He had never been known to talk someone's ear off.

Olivia glanced down, resisting the urge to nod out of habit. As casually as possible, she put distance between herself and Clark while she slowly looked around the room.

"I can think of a few reasons to persuade you" the wizard said as he stared at Clark. "You made your way into a deserted structure, proceeded to wander around, then followed a mysterious ball of light into an open area. You don't honestly think that I'm the only one here do you?"

Minton

"Yeah, that sounds about right going off your file." Warren said as he tapped a datapad against the table. "Well as you know by now we do things a bit different around here, the formality and rigidness don't crop up that often. We play by big boy rules, continue to act like an adult and I'll treat you like one. If there's anything on your mind just look for me and we can talk it over, if I had an office there would be an open door policy."

"So tell me, what experience do you have with magic?"
