I think that Medieval Ages know several examples of Church versus kings struggle. A king bastardly enough could be quite able to exert pressure on the Pope, if he had an army close enough to Rome. Not really if your idea of a change is to dismantle the Church hierarchy, not at this stage, and the politics made sure his enemies domestic and abroad would paint themselves as defenders of the faith, but he could take on the Pope quite well.

[up][up][up]Yes, but leave some room for imagination. Maybe he was an early leader that changed the society ahilw before the Spainish.

By the way, Shaka was pretty badass, but his successors (and quite probably he, had he lived long enough) made a number of poor choices themselves. Like, they disregarded the gunpowder weapons.

[up][up] Ultimately, purchasing weapons from the colonists will still doom you. You'll fight longer, but the only way the South Americans could have won is if they themselves began manufacturing on the same level as the Spanish. Look at the North American tribes, many of which purchased firearms to use against the enemy. They made a bigger dent, but they lost in the end anyway.

Except for 4/1/2011. That day lingers in my memory like...metaphor here...I should go.

This is starting to sound really cool, with a four way war going on in Mexico.

If they do fight a war for Mexico then a lot of historical eevnts wouldn't happen, or at least not happen like they did IRL. And England's navy wasn't supreme until many eyars later. The English navy of the 1500s was nothing too special.

Eh, the loss the Spanish Armada was a fluke. Britain did not have complete naval dominance until the 18th century.
