Still have a couple of characters to unlock, like Ganondorf.

Is Old Manondorf still a pallet swap?

Yup. There's also a palette that makes his hair more deeply red and turns his skin blue, so he looks like classic Ganon.

I sure said that!

One of my Ganondorf customizations has his speed stat as high as I can get it. Now he's really ready for F-Zero.

Is it just my imagination, or is the AI capable of learning as a match goes on? It seems that in Classic Mode, I can only execute the same tactic or sequence of moves (say, hitting an opponent upward and then immediately charging an up smash to hit them as they come back down) about 2-3 times before the AI catches on and finds a way to dodge it, usually with a well-timed R button. It's also possible that the AI is simply programmed to hold back in its reaction time to simulate a human opponent, and recognize when you're trying the same trick more than once and reduce its reaction time in response, much like a human opponent would.

I'm fairly sure there's no permanent learning retained across matches though, with one possible exception: Classic Mode, Master Core's final form, where it turns into a shadow clone of whichever character you're playing as. The aforementioned "hit upwards then up-smash" combo used to work pretty consistently against it for me, even on 9.0. After I beat it on 9.0 a couple times, now it seems to have gotten better at R-dodging or hitting me from above on the way down to thwart my combo. It's also possible I was just off my game since I was pretty tired when I started noticing this, and I might have just thought the AI was playing better when I was playing worse. Does anyone have evidence for or against my theory?

The AI could actually do that back in Brawl but the effect is more prominent here. It'll be even more prominent with the amiibo fighters when they come out.

Mario and his NES Golf/Steel Ball Run alt one of da bess. If we're talking alts at least.

Gotta laugh at how lazy Sonic's palettes were.

They really could have given him different alts.

Shadow, Silver, and the Werehog AT LEAST, because they've all canonically been mistaken for Sonic. (From the back. By the same person each time.)

I think Sakurai is inexplicably scared of recoloring guests significantly from their default looks- Mega Man and Snake had sources in their own games for alternate colors, but Sonic and Pac-Man haven't quite had something like that.

I sure said that!

I'm gonna laugh if Xenoblade's seventh party member is a trophy in its permanent party member form. I honestly consider Lucina to be a bigger spoiler than Seven, since Xenoblade is older than Awakening.

Though now that I mention it, she technically is a trophy. See the one closest to the background?

[up][up][up]There's no way that character isn't going to be a trophy, considering how few fucks the Smash team gives about spoilers.

And aside from that, the same character appeared prominently in a JP commercial for Xenoblade, albeit played by a live-action actor. Even at the very beginning, Nintendo didn't really care about hiding this spoiler.

Say Quick question, At the end of the Shulk Trailer, there was a shadow and a VO of someone menacing him. Did that sound like a villain from Xenoblade?

I wouldn't be so sure about that for Xenoblade though. Not only is it a heavily story-driven game that had a limited run, but it's also soon to be re-released for the New 3DS. The Smash team may not give many fucks about spoilers, but I don't think Nintendo/Monolith would want them to mess up something like this internationally complete with descriptions.

[up][up] Not to mention that Xenoblade's spoilers seem to be remarkably well-kept by pretty much everyone who's ever played it. It's like the fans have a special standard in place.

Yeah, that too. While there's the ocassional loose-mouthed asshat, Xenoblade has been one of the games with some of the best kept spoilers I've seen, especially considering it has been floating around for roughly 4 years.

Also, [up][up]That's amazing
