Her personality in IN is rather timid. Where Wriggle's awesome comes from is her three page scene stealing piece of awesome in Inaba and Inaba.

She's amiable but malicious, responding with lighthearted snark to most things that come her way, and pulls off an awesome midair recline*

. She takes the fact that she gets caught in Kaguya's bugtrap (twice, I believe) with good humour, stating that since she's a bug, it's to be expected.

And then she gets a swarm of mosquitoes to eat Reisen.

And this is why I love Wriggle. That and the cape.

I keep being surprised by how romantic your ideas of a character can be.

It's strange, though, isn't it? Insects are still very dangerous in many places in earth. In fact, dangerous bees exist in Japan, right?

I take this as evidence that youkai are more spread out than just existing in Gensokyo (well, I guess we already knew that from Mamizou). She might be the queen of the insects of Gensokyo, born into a part of the world that considers insects nothing but a nuisance, but she's not the queen of the killer bees of the world that mercilessly hunt down and kill people who look at them wrong.

Who here things they have enough art skill? If so they could attempt to MAKE a replacement image for the characters page she's on.

It's noted that bug youkai used to be as fearsome as the oni or the tengu. And now they're not, but no one knows why.

She doesn't need hornets. PMiSS notes she has an army of poisonous ninja mites that could wipe out the population of Gensokyo were she pissed off enough.

I'll buy that Wriggle could spell serious trouble if she amassed a whole army of insects, but the crazy death-mites of super-death sound a lot to me like "please make me sound awesome or I'll make you swallow a cockroach".

Clearly, more people need to read Cracked's various articles on HORRIBLE bugs, then people would start fearing bugs again. Because, srsly, there's some twisted species out there. And Wriggle hypothetically has access to it all. Hypothetically since her PMISS entry implies that she has to do face to face recruiting and gathering. Its not like she can just put out a facebook post (a magical one) and get those exploding ants or palm sized hornets to meet her for a round of baccarat.

Plus, Wriggle could use her power to control the Beatles, dethroning the Prismrivers and Mystia, taking over Gensokyo culturally. She could do it anytime she wants to. She just doesn't want to right now.

Wriggle is a hipster and likes being the only one in Gensokyo who knows who the Beatles are.

Question: Does Wriggle know the extent of her powers? It could be like someone speculated for Cirno: They could be a big threat, a powerful foe, but they lack the mastery of their powers to be so. Wriggle could call in the right insect to crush her enemies, but she doesn't know (or rather, forgot) what insect that would be.

Hipster Wriggle is a interesting thought. She wears pants and a cape because no one else does or will, making it "indie" enough for her hipster tastes (I have no clue what hipsters are like)

The cape is supposed to resemble wings. Its no different than any other character wearing thematic clothes. I don't know why the pants. I'm still disappointed that her sprite doesn't have a glowy butt.

Clearly, the pants represent the glowy butt. They light up on command, but Wriggle doesn't do that because it is dumb looking (or, rather, she forgot about it).

In order to alleviate some of the creep factor from an underage-looking girl producing light from her posterior, I propose that the light comes from a determinate point behind her, ala Ghost Lights, but with a switch.

Huh. I was going to say that Wriggle wears pants and looks boyish because only male fireflies glow, but luckily I went to double-check that. It's not true.

So I can only assume that the pants are supposed to suggest an insect-like bulbous behind, without resorting to crimes against fashion like with Yamame's pear-shaped dress.

Sakuya is eternally meek though. Wriggle takes some time off.

It depends on if Wriggle considers (or rather, remembers that) her enemy a big enough threat. If so, she melts into meekness. If not, arrogance and midair slouch of style villainy.

Sakuya's not MEEK. She's blunt and aggressive. And around Remilia she's like an exasperated mother. Seriously. About 80% of her lines in IN are basically 'My lady, don't say/do/think that...'.

Wriggle. She's a riddle wrapped in a mystery wrapped in a cape. Aya and Akyuu no doubt say interesting things about her.
