IN's pretty dark as well. Besides the two immortal girls who will duel each other until the universe ends, there's a moon war, a war-shocked refugee, and moon emissaries killed by Eirin's hand.

MOF is really the only lighthearted game in the series, and even then, it's a bit sad because the Moriya crowd had to come to Gensokyo because nobody cared about them on the other side.

[down] Yeah, your selection of lightheartedness is better than mine.

[up][up][up] Or a girl being forced underground for her powers, an oni that's pretty much the last of her kind, losing your father after death, and then your sisters leave you behind forcing you to make poltergeists of them, presumable in exchange for your life force. The list goes on...

[up] You do realize that if the Moriya shrine actually did gather enough faith it would cause the Gensokyou Border to basically vanish right? That's pretty dark. I think that St B, DS, and FW are the lightest of the series.

The thing about Remilia, the thing of the thing is that even losing can open new doors and amusements for her. Which is probably why she doesn't fatehax so everything goes her way. She lost to Reimu and found the new entertainment of hanging around Reimu's shrine*

.

She is somewhat mercurial on top of that, changing her goals and intentions at a whim. She's going to the moon to beat Yukari there, no wait she really intends to conquer it, nevermind she just wants a nap, changed her mind again now she wants a pool. And then she was content for roughly ten minutes.

It is slightly annoying, in the way of the fandom, that they portray her as a sore loser or a weakling. Remilia covered Gensokyo in a Scarlet Mist and still put up a final boss level fight. Comparatively, Yuyuko had Youmu do all the heavy lifting and Byakuren had just had a nice thousand year rest.

She could raise chaos and cause untold destruction, either by herself or by letting Flan out to play. But that's now how she rolls or how she gets her jollies.

Remilia is a fun character basically. And blood is amazing.

Also, person who wants Remilia doujins, I'll look through my stash and put up some suggestions tomorrow. I'm far too tired tonight.

I'm pretty sure the "Moon War" amounted to "the Lunarians got mad at the Earth people for flag planting, but the Earth people didn't notice because the Lunar Capital is in it's own kinda-pocket dimension like Gensoukyou is, and in the end nothing came of it, but the Lunarians like to pretend something did so they can brag about a nonexistent victory." As for Eirin killing people, I've heard that, I've heard that she only slipped away from them, I've even heard that they outright let her go once she "defected" due to how influential she was. I honestly have no clue which is canon there. (probably not the third one). Imperishable Night was kinda dark, I'll admit, but I wouldn't say it was as dark as Perfect Cherry Blossoms or Undefined Fantastic Object.

I'm not saying these games are all light and fluffy, (they are definitely not) but you guys are making it out like everything is all tragic pasts and grimdark. (IMO, UFO is the one that gets closest to that, and even that is kinda light in it's own way)

Bleh.

EDIT:[up]Yes. This. Yes. Too tired to make a proper response to that, but I agree with this. Mostly. Sorry for worthless post.

DOUBLE EDIT: I just realized that the Moon War could refer to Yukari's previous moon invasion attempt thing. Not sure if that is mentioned during IN. I honestly know nothing about that one. Sorry again.

The way I saw it the humans landing on the moon thing was a search for alien life on the moon.

"Houston, this is Armstrong. There's no alien life up here. Just prissy little humans that landed up here in the past with science magic and hot bunny girls. Please advise on feasibility of bringing bunny home."
"Negative Armstrong. Save it for the follow-up trip."

Then Reisen and Armstrong parted with a lingering, sad look and returned to their separate worlds.

Dunnae if this is precisely what Recon means but in Inaba, Akyuu apparently used Holy Grail as a secondary source since she asked Reisen if she decapitates people with her teeth and if a holy hand grenade would be needed to kill her.

Gensokyo gets British comedy. Ponder on that.

I've even heard that they outright let her go once she "defected" due to how influential she was.

They didn't chase her down afterwards because the leaders of the Lunar armirs are her disciples and grand-nieces-in-law. Nepotism, basically. That has nothing to do with her original crime though, and she is considered a criminal rather than merely a defector.

I honestly have no clue which is canon there. (probably not the third one). Imperishable Night was kinda dark, I'll admit, but I wouldn't say it was as dark as Perfect Cherry Blossoms or Undefined Fantastic Object.

You can't forget Mokou's past either. Climbed up a mountain and murdered some people (who apparently she was quite close to, as later revealed in CILR. And then became immortal and lived a few centuries like a bandit, killing anyone she came across, human or youkai, before calming down into who she is now.

And just in a general tone sense, Keine's fierce protection of the human village is the first real glimpse of how terrifying incidents and youkai could be to generic humans. This was like a "protect it with your life" thing for Keine.

Also, I don't see how UFO is particularly dark. Cynical, maybe, but not dark.

Dunno if Eirin killed the lunar emissaries. I do know that she and Kaguya were planning to kill the ones that came to get them before Eirin got the idea to seal the world in a jar.

Also, Yuyuko's backstory. Terrified at the strength of her own power, she committed suicide. And Yukari may or may not have had something to do with it. And she may have done it without Yuyuko's consent.

Also from a general sense and from IN: Mystia Lorelei. Am I the only person who finds her REALLY creepy?

On TOPIC: Remilia's wearing a cadeuces necklace in the fighting games. WHAT COULD IT MEAN?

Just becuase their age difference is 5 years doesn't necessarily mean it was that difference when they were turned, they might simply have been turned at different times.
