Sorry I don't have a grasp on all the names of the eras of Japan.
That awkward moment where Kyoro is one of Satan's Generals.6*I imagine it's something like this:
- Renko enters the club room
- Maribel:Ah, welcome to the club! How may I help you?...Or are you just another person looking for the bathroom?
- Renko:Excuse me, is this the Ghostly Field Club?
- Maribel:It is! But the the School board is closing it if membership doesn't at least double by next week...
- Renko:Oh, that's too bad. I was looking forward to applying...
- Maribel:Well, with you, our membership will have doubled! So please, sign up.
- Renko:Oh, that's wonderful! How many members are there now?
- Maribel: With you, we are now officially at two members! Isn't that exciting?!
- Renko:...That certainly seems so. I'm Renko Usami by the way, please to meet you.
- Maribel:Likewise. My name is Maribel Han/Hearn/whatever the translator feels like, and I look forward to many adventures together!
...Oh god, WHAT HAVE I DONE?! This was horrible! Terrible! Avert your eyes if you wish to keep your sanity!
EDIT:It's also 6 posts too late!

She's still millennia old. I have to imagine she's rather stuck in her ways.
If she's not reliving memories, maybe the Maribel personality takes over Yukari at different points of time. Perhaps due to WTS. The appearance and clothing is similar enough that she may not even notice that she's not herself.
And unless Maribel as Yukari accidentally opens a gap by sneezing, there wouldn't be any clues on that front either.
Does anybody remember if Maribel ever interacts with anyone that would know Yukari during one of these dream sojourns?
Forever liveblogging the AvengersOnly in some ways. Suwako mentions that she's a big fan of industrial revolutions, and she's fond of nuclear power.
Song of the SirensFrom the two "trips" she recounts, the only characters she meets are maybe!Sakuya and likely!Mokou, however, she may have met them before/after they first met Yukari. Thing is, Yukari can have met both of them at some point (depending on who you play as in Perfect Cherry Blossoms or Imperishable Night)
I liked it at least...
EDIT YO: Made it more clear about what I was saying.

Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.That's true. Perhaps one of the ways in which she's stuck is a penchant for technological advancement. The difference being that when she was first getting into technology, the concept of the wheel was considered advanced.
Technophile Kanako is an even stranger idea.
I like to think that the Moriya goddesses managed to adapt pretty well to modernization and were pretty comfortable until they started feeling just how little faith modern religion actually has.
Then they started panicking.
And so they gathered faith through the creation of new technologies to power Gensokyo.
For nature goddesses they sure do like technology.'
I'm mean, seriously, they gather their most faith through the Kappa and the Tengu, the two most advanced races in Gensokyo.

I have no horse, and I must ride. I accomplish unlockments.Of course gods can adapt to the times, why wouldn't they be able to? The problem was of course that people stopped attributing their successes to divine blessings, so she got less faith. In that sense, introducing superior technology as a direct gift from the gods is exactly what she needed to do to cut off such a possibility from the beginning.
There is no difference between nature and technology.

They have excuses. Kanako is a god of agriculture, she's been hanging around technology since the invention of irrigation. Suwako is a god of metal, and more often then not just tends to follow Kanako around (it's even how she ended up in Gensokyo, more or less).
Song of the SirensUm, Kanako is the goddess of Wind and Rain, with the ability to create Sky, while Suwako is the goddess of Mountains, with the ability to create Earth. Not anything you just said

"Seriously, don't eat the mermaid. And not just because it's half cannibalism." ~OtherarrowGods tend to have larger portfolios than that. A sky goddess like Kanako is naturally associated with agriculture since they control the rain. Even Thor is an agricultural god. Suwako is associated with metal rings, and by extension probably mining and such. Plus curses. Kanako is also associated with war and conquest.

And snakes.
She just made that one up.
Well maybe, but I for one wouldn't argue with her. >_>

Somewhat ironically, Kanako couldn't make it rain when she really needed to and had to bring in Suwako as an outside rain consultant. I actually don't know what the word ironic means.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersDouble Irony, Suwako couldn't make the Palladium Kanako needed to make cold fusion, and they had to bring in Reimu to bring in an outside consultant.
Which is why I don't believe that Suwako is a metal goddess.
EDIT: On second thought, that isn't ironic at all. Wait, Iron is a metal. Puns.

I have no horse, and I must ride. I accomplish unlockments.Suwako could probably make all the palladium they needed but actually making a arc reactor would probably need kappa-level technology, and bringing in your worshipers as consultants kind of lessens your grandeur. Besides, they already had a reactor of sorts flapping around in the underground with the only problem left to solve being finesse of control.
Except the cold fusion "reactor" has nothing to do with Utsuho's reactor and is indeed just a tub of water with a pole of palladium sticking out. Kasen supported the endeavor for the precise reason that it had nothing to do with the underground's reactor.
Also, the Moriya Shrine specifically had to ask for Reimu's help to summon some god of metallurgy because they couldn't do it on their own.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersMetallurgy is different from mining. I just think as a mountain god it's reasonable to be connected to the stuff that comes from mountains. And she does use metal rings as weapons.
Well, she can go down to where its hot enough to smith. She has an eternal life to learn. She's easily strong enough and has enough endurance. Why hasn't she leveled up to god of metallurgy yet?

Forever liveblogging the AvengersThis reminds me: why is it that Suwako is named after a lake, and yet her godly portfolio has absolutely nothing to do with either lakes or water?

It's kinda weird to think Kanako's from the present day.
Sanae's easy to imagine in modern day; she's quite the sci-fi fan. She must have put up with a lot though, living with two goddesses known for their meddling...
A normal girl, who lives with a bombastic wind goddess and a scheming frog goddess. They Fight Crime!/Hilarity Ensues. Or both.
