The New Touhou Character Alternate Interpretation Compendium!

My interpretation of Heaven is based on my interpretation of the Christian heaven. In my interpretation of heaven, God only lets in godly people because they're the only people that would enjoy heaven. Everyone else wouldn't be happy with the way things would be run. So, in Touhou heaven, the only people who could tolerate life in heaven would be the celestials. This bleeded into my write-up of Tenshi.

Remember Gensokyou isn't held back by common sense so Heaven and the Netherworld being in the same world is pretty normal in such a strange land.

I'm not sure if you fully understand my position. I was speaking from a purely Doylist perspective. Yukari's negative view of the Celestials is shared by a lot of other characters – not necessarily in detail, but they are negative nonetheless – including Akyuu and, to an extent, Tenshi's official profile. That last one's the clincher, really. It's just a side-note, but it suggests the popular position that evil is necessary to have because otherwise, life would be boring. Which is apparently a fair trade to the people who hold that belief. So basically I'm suggesting that ZUN shares that opinion.

And the sour grapes thing. That, too. Sorry, I think it's too early for me to think about complex stuff like this.

Not even evil, really. Just conflict. Struggles. Not even big ones, necessarily, but something to work on overcoming, be it against another person, or just a basic problem. It's not hard in most countries, but everyone still needs to be able to get food and water when their bodies need it.*

No, those are fighting words, now figh... wait, I'm off topic.

So Celestials. In terms of things, applying good and evil to them is pointless. Tenshi still had humanity to an extent, so we can apply it to her and her family, but only to an extent.

Akyuu says that the people who get into Heaven are only the type of people who wouldn't even want that life to begin with. Now, Akyuu isn't the most reliable source, but that line seems pretty true.

I guess that's all I have left to say on the subject, if you guys want Iku them so do I. Peer pressure is FUN!

If we don't do Iku right after Tenshi, then we'll never get to her. If we do Koakuma, then Patchy will be very likely next, and then the rest of the SDM, and then some other groups, and then we'll be left with the stragglers.

It's called the flow of discussion and I find it to be a very useful thing to follow.

Faw has frowned upon the flow of discussion. Besides, most of the SDM crew sans Koakuma are more popular characters. We can't just go along the chain like that. And of course we'll eventually get back to Iku.
