Satori's basically Koishi's opposite, really. Apart from the colour schemes, their eyes (Satori's regular eyes are closed and her third eye is open; Koishi's third eye is closed and her normal eyes are open), their hair (Satori has short hair and a headband; Koishi has long hair and a hat) and even their powers (Satori's ability allows her to see a person's every thought, and presumably she can sense any person in her presence; Koishi's ability allows her to hide from people and not even Satori can read her mind) are the inverse of each other. DUALITY!!!

Actually, I think Satori may wear her emotions on sleeve provided that frustration, weariness, and mischief are the only emotions she has. I don't know if satori would have a good poker face if they grew up near other satori. No point in bluffing if someone can read your mind.

So if anyone other than another satiro ir animals would like her, it'd be the oni. Becasue if there's a community of satori, they might as well just be honest, since they can't hide anything. Honesty is a highly rated trait in oni eyes.

Well, they don't specifically say they don't like them. They're just being kinda blunt about how people see them.

What's interesting is that its only the Reimu/Yukari and Reimu/Suika paths that you get this kind of dialogue. On the other paths, Yuugi either points the way to the palace without explaining, points the way off-screen, or Nitori figures out the direction by detecting the heat of the former hell.

Edit: The way that Yuugi describes it as "a bunch of stuck-up folks" leads me to think that there are either more satori living there or that Satori's pets are the stuck up ones.

The oni liking Satori thing is pretty common in fanon though. Karaagetarou's Chirei de has a good example. Danbooru has NSFW ads, by the by.

Or Yuugi actually never has met Satori.

If she stayed aloof and Yuugi believed it was because she was stuck-up, presumably because she chose a palace as her place of residence, then to Yuugi that would be the truth and no lying would have happened.

Suika is quite clear that Satori isn't a bad person, but people don't like her.

Alternatively, Utsuho, lives in a palace, happily proclaims herself as the strongest, I could see her being stuck-up. Rin? I don't know.

Double Alternate: Satori has grown so used to the hate that she acts stuck-up to repel people.

There are more pets then just Rin and Utsuho. I assume those two are the strongest of the pets though. But anyway, there could be some stuck-up pets in the bunch.

I like your point about Satori staying aloof though.

Being blunt about commo nperception would be something they'd probably do. Meaning Yuugi hasn't had a chance to meet Satori yet. Suika probably met her through using her powers. We know for a fact it allows her to spread herself across the whole of Gensokyo.

Man, if Suika thinks Satori is good folk, that's proof right there that she is. Little lady's got standards.

As for "stuck-up", it seems about right that Yuugi would think so because Satori acts aloof towards people. But she wouldn't even have to do that, probably. Depending on how you see Yuugi, it might well be that all Satori has to do in order to count as "stuck-up" in her eyes is not participate in wild oni bacchanalia.

Huh. That's... interesting, actually. It seems unlikely that ZUN would know of that turn of phrase... but I also wouldn't entirely put it past him. Knowing him, he might have stumbled across it somewhere once and made a note in some giant notebook of potential references to use in designs, or maybe he has a gargantuan tome of expressions in all the languages of the world that he uses to search for relevant symbolism when he designs characters... ... Or the internet. Maybe that.

Yeah, I'm not happy with the picture, either. I just use what the character sheet provides!

Also, I was referring to the idea that you're one of those who are always citing canon sources in these discussions, and canon sources might refute my musing about how deep Satori's telepathy goes... But then again, all the canon evidence I've seen about it still leaves room for debate, so that was silly of me and I'm sorry.

Well maybe not abuse, but Satori has no qualms about using her power. She freely reads Reimu/Marisa's mind, although using telepathy when Marisa's in your house is probably just common sense.

You know, I keep forgetting to add voices for the characters now that I took the "music" point out of the profile template that I use.

Satorin Okyuun, judging, Komeiji Sisters, and those IOSYS things I linked before! That's a bunch.

Also, did I mention that Satori is one of my favorite characters? She is in fact so favorite that I started working on a pretty big project for her, to be finished before the discussion is over!
