Can't decide if this crowd's worse or better than the Victoria 3 crowd.
Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen.I'm sure by the 15th expansion pack those people will finally have the Rome vs. Parthia vs. Han showdowns that they really want. Historical accuracy and feasibility be damned.
I can certainly agree with this sentiment despite being one of those people who wants Vicky 3. There is almost nothing that Paradox can put that will please even a majority of the people, especially since whatever they come up with will certainly look nothing like what Victoria 2 looked like (for better and worse).
Personally, I'm pretty jazzed about Imperator. Kinda want to do a Syracuse playthrough when it comes out, maybe get some friends on board for a Hellenic co-op campaign.
Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen.I hope Baltics are playable. It's my solemn duty to have at least one playthrough of spreading my culture, word of Dievs and enlightenment of potatoe around the world.
I'll wait til the inevitable Conversion DLC comes out that lets me port my campaigns to CKII. Surely there'll be DLC bridging the gap between the end/start dates of the two. It's what Paradox does.
Personally I think I'll probably do a Macedonia playthrough, recreating Alexander's empire but this time with actual stable succession sounds simple delightful. And I have a soft spot for Greece so I would love an opportunity to conquer it.
"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -HylarnI was thinking of doing a Thebes or Epirus playthorugh, though the start date seems to be after Thebes was destroyed by Alexander. Syracuse is a great suggestion, though.
Somehow, I doubt I'll ever actually play as Rome.
No, Rome must be destroyed.
Not really wild about Ancient Greece or Alexander the Adequate, either.
Really, every time I read about the Classical era, I just wind up rooting for civilizations that wind up losing to the more boring perspective "characters".

I wanna be Carthage and win
Oh really when? You could start as Boi and conquer Sparta
Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen.By Alexander the Adequate I presume you're mockingly referring to Alexander The Great?
I'm fairly certain that he's dead by the game's timeline, though several of his successor generals should still be active.
Ooh I just checked the map and it turns out that Sparta is playable, I think it would be rather apropos if they were my first playthrough

"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -HylarnThe other faction I mentioned◊.

Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen.Wait, that's an actual faction?!
That's hilarious
"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -HylarnI assume that's supposed to be the Boii - but reading Boi just made me think of Dad of War for some reason.
Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen.I'm always dismissive of Alexander III of Macedonia. A second-rate conqueror who basically inherited a ready-made expansion machine from his father and let everything crumble when he died.
Apparently he did some other stuff besides conquering - mostly his architectural vanity projects - but people really keep banging on about how he was badass because he conquered such a large empire.
Yeah, and then his army almost revolted because he didn't stop conquering, so he punished them by taking them through a deadly desert on the way back.
Alexander the Overrated is also a good nickname.
Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen.I wonder if I can play as one of the Twelve Tribes of Israel and form Judah.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.I'm also irritated to an unreasonable degree by the Fate series calling Alexander "king of conquerors" when Genghis Khan clearly far exceeded him in that category.
Well to be fair, Fate gave Genghis Khan tits, which makes being King slightly harder.

Temujin started from lower position than Alexander's pops and conquered more than the kid. And social reforms out the wazoo. As something of a Fate fan, I'd love to see Alexander and Temujin meet and the letter basically shit talk all over the former. Not that it's likely.
Wait... what?

Doesn't stop Artoria Pendragon from being King of Knights, and Francis Drake and Attila are similarly unimpeded from bearing "king" titles.
Also, summoning Genghis Khan as Archer instead of Rider is a real galaxy brain move on the part of their master.

Some of those Gallic tribes are bad boiis.
...soo...anyway...
I wonder how easy it will be to create a non-Roman Rome, like we had several times in history.
I despise hypocrisy, unless of course it is my own.Word from the people on the pdxcon is that Imperator map is a globe. That is cool, I wonder how well it will play.
Wow, that actually pissed me off. I like the Fate series but that's just ridiculous.
I imagine the difficulty will depend on the size of the nation you choose, larger one's like Egypt or Macedon would likely not give you too hard a time.
Really? That's interesting.
Civ 4 had a globe map but it was never used... mainly because it was pointless and visually odd. I wonder if Paradox will do better.
Though in a related note IIRC it seems that Imperator has the "zoom in for terrain zoom out for politics" that HOI 4 had, now YMMV on that but personally I'm really happy. I always loved that.
