I just use SPESS MEHRINES gene warriors for everything - only titanic beasts have better stats, so once I have gene warriors, every other army type is obsolete in the face of the overwhelming power of the Emprah's overseer's finest.
I think I'm going to go the Super-Soldier route as well, for RP reasons (I can't see my custom Terran Union lookiing upon Clone Troopers well very).

Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.I think for me it would depend on what I'm facing. For instance, if it's a small system I would probably use gene warriors or a xenomorph army or even a titan beast, for big wars I'd use an army of droids or clones.
One of my empires used slaves.
Because a group of citizens geneticly modified all there good traits away, fuck that.
They got turned into slave labor and slave soilders.
That's what the purge button is for.
You can only purge as a colectivist or xenophobe and I was neither.
So slave legions it was.
After I get done with two of my other races (one a regular one where I don't roleplay, another where I go Benevolent Precursors), I'm actually going to play an insect race that does as much evil stuff as possible, such as full orbital bombardments, slave armies, genociding primitives, and stuff like that.
To those worried about the music, I doubt it'll be a problem for long. Paradox has a long history of adding more songs to their games through DLC packs. Just wait for it. It'll be here.
I normally play Paradox games while listening to podcasts or something like it.
I like the orchestral music they run on their historical games. It's fun to listen to while conquering my neighbors.
Really the only music in-game I listen to in EU 4 is the Sabaton music. And even then only "The Carolean's Prayer."
@Imca: But you could have slaves? I thought those were also limited to collectivists and xenophobes and the divine mandate government family, if not literally, then functionally.
I probably would have gone with using them for unrestricted genome alterations experiments.
As for slave soldiers, I see them as just plain bad policy.
I always wind up singing the "from the old world's demise, see an empire rise" line from Sabaton's Gott Mit Uns when I beat Fallen Empires.

Nah, they are are not, the happiness hit is minimal, unless the pop themself is a slave.
The Holy Sirian Empire relies on Very Strong Psionic Armies with PSI Warriors. The locals' morale shatters and they're easy to mop up. (Yes, Gene Warriors are probably better. That would require me to have the relevant tech, which I don't.)
And another damn bug; primitive civilizations not appearing when I meet them, so the planet is both empty and not-empty at once, preventing me from landing my armies. arglebargle
I'm going to get Stellaris today. What would be a good tutorial empire?
please call me "XionKuriyama" or some variation, thanks! | What is the good deed that you can do right now?Well you could take one of the pre-made ones.
The tutorial AI is a dork and I love him.
please call me "XionKuriyama" or some variation, thanks! | What is the good deed that you can do right now?It makes me sad because after the 4th time I know what he is going to say, but the option to not use them is to shut him down, and he pleads with you not too and it is sad. :c
Oh, is the tutorial guy a robot or something for Stellaris?
Okay, I'm liking this so far. Very quiet, thoughtful game, I like that. When do the first other civs usually show up?
please call me "XionKuriyama" or some variation, thanks! | What is the good deed that you can do right now?Very early. If you chose wormhole, probably no further than the edge of the range of your initial wormhole station, and if you chose warp, within two or three max-range jumps of your starting warp drive.

depends on your starting settings. Nothing actually stops you from having a single ai civ in a galaxy of a thousand systems, in which case the answer is "it'll be a while"
Actually, even then, they'll probably be pretty close - the game tends to cluster the AI starts around you.
So does anyone here use particular types of armies for things? I'm thinking of building a number of each for fighting certain kinds of wars.
