[up] The Hodor episode is episode 5.

Lu just watched episode 6.

And I'm talking about episode 7. It's the Sandor episode

@lu Well maybe you won't care. I know I walked away annoyed and disgusted though.

I have nothing on this episode other than somehow, even though the Blackfish returned, nothing happened.

@lu So the outrage I was talking about lu was with Sandor's stuff. He returns to a life of revenge and violence and the TV counterpart of Septon Meribald is a fool for thinking there was another way besides violence in Westeros and then he gets humiliatingly killed for it.

Well okay there was quite a bit of outrage at Arya being knifed in the stomach, falling in the river and not dying. In that week alone, people made several theories about Arya like her not being the one that was actually knifed and that Arya was the waif and the waif was Arya.

I...absolutely hated the Septon. Septon Meribald was a calm, soothing presence in my mind. The show's equivalent acted like some bloody hippie. And the Sandor stuff is generally kinda out of left field. I do like seeing Beric again. I prefer him over Stoneheart.

And lol Arya is just hilarious. Knifed, jumping into unclean water, walking around anc somehow still conscious when Crane found her and then she can outrun the waif all over town. Wow.

The poor Blackfish didn't get a death scene. -___- It was stupidly obvious they just needed his paycheck out of the show, since there is 0 reason he didn't join Brienne. And they made Edmure look like an asshole for just ordering his capture.

I liked the King's Landing stuff though. Ser Robert, Cersei vs the Sparrow is intriguing.

BOOM.

No seriously. The entire buildup to that scene was amazing. The music swelling, the camera angles, the getting ready montage...superb. And then they all die in the swirly green fires of hell. Budget for the next season: drastically reduced.

Lots of shout outs to the book with the Frey Pies and the King in the North. Arya was great. The Fire and Blood line was totally smeared by the terrible actors though. Nuh-uh.

Winter is here! ...No shot of the army of the dead.

@lu A lot of major plot details for the next season have leaked in case you can't resist spoilers. A redditor named lads had access to the script leaked a huge chunk of it in his own words. Not all but big chunks.

Let me know if you can't help yourself and I can link it.

Next season is only 7 episodes long. They'll have plenty of budget. And the last season is only 6 episodes long.

Yep. No reason it couldn't have been Doran there with Olenna.

Winter is here! ...No shot of the army of the dead.

They're probably not going to show up and be a threat until the final season.

I'd like a quick summary of the leaks.

About the budget, I was thinking how half the cast died in this season, which means less people to pay. Speaking of dead people, Tommen's death was really effective. No big dramatic climax, just a sudden afterthought, showing just how hopeless and empty he felt.

I'm not sure WHY Euron was introduced this late honestly. He doesn't seem to have any of the magical qualities assigned to him in the books, and he doesn't fit into an allegiance with any of the remaining parties (Cersei, North,Vale or Dany). If he's not getting involved with the dead or Oldtown somehow, I'm totally lost.

The leaks from what I remember say Euron allies with Cersie and fucks up Dany's fleet, capturing the Sand Snakes and Yara who he parades through King's landing before Cersei kills them. Jamie takes Highgarden after stomping the Tyrells and Olenna confesses to killing Joffrey before committing suicide to avoid being tortured by Cersei. Jon Gendry and Brienne go north of the Wall to capture a wight to show Cersei to get her to ally with them and Dany against the White Walkers. Cersei pretends to along with it to backstab them. Jon and Dany start having sex. Littlefinger is executed by Arya for trying to manipulate her and Sansa against each other. I think there was also something about Sam "proving" Jon to be the legitimate son of Rhaegar because he found some documents at the Citadel.

Ahem.

But that said, of those that died, I can't think of any of them that were big names and had a lot of screen time. I mean, I think Jonathan Pryce was the biggest name to die this season (seriously, correct me if I'm wrong, I may very well be overlooking someone as I haven't seen the season since its original run) and I doubt he's exactly going for top dollar. Meanwhile Lena Headley and Dinklage's roles are increasing, ditto Sophie Turner and Emilia Clarke who are also increasingly up and coming stars elsewhere.

Alright I'll summarize:

Daenerys [[spoiler:burns more people and acts a little crazier this season and her advisors start getting worried about her.

Jon goes on a mission north of the Wall with Beric, Gendry, the Hound, Thoros and Jorah to capture a wight to show to Daenerys and Cersei so they can team up against the Others.

Jon and Daenerys meet on Dragonstone where she lands.

The Lannister armies wipe out the Martells and Tyrells pretty easily. Jaime's an amazing commander.

The big battle this season is between Daenerys and Jaime.

Euron's fleet destroys Yara's, kills 2 of the Sand Snakes and captures Yara, a Sand Snake and Ellaria. Theon abandons Yara. The ironborn finally lose all respect for him. He has a small reunion scene with Jon. Jon tells him that he won't kill him because he saved Sansa.

Jon's real name is Aegon. Jon won't find out his true parentage this season but Sam and Bran piece it together. Sam through a marriage record and Bran through a vision of Rhaegar and Lyanna's wedding.

Jon and Daenerys have sex while the Wall falls.

Gendry comes back in royal Baratheon clothes with Robert's warhammer. Davos and Tyrion meet him at KL and take him to Dragonstone.

Jon, Daenerys and Cersei all meet at the dragonpit and agree on an alliance. But Cersei tells Jaime in private that she doesn't plan on helping them against the Others causing him to abandon her with the Lannister army and joining them.

Cersei is pregnant all-season and has a miscarriage at the end.

Arya poisons the rest of the Freys.

Bran arrives at Winterfell as does Arya. Jon doesn't meet them though as he's in the south.

LF tries to cause strife between Sansa and Arya. He uses the letter she wrote Robb back on season 1 to turn them against each other. Sansa eventually catches on and has him executed with Arya as the executioner.

Viserion dies and the Night's King revives him as his new mount.

I still can't buy the so-called supposed spoilers for S7. I don't mean that in a it's-offensive-and-disgusting-sense (as much of S5 was) but that I expected them to tell a better story or tell the story in a better way than what this implies.

This is sub-Michael Bay bad and I can't imagine how anyone would be satisfied by any of this stuff happening. It's anti-climactic as all-get-out, tells a story that nobody wants to see and is more or less pointless and distracting.

I feel especially bad for Jaime Lannister...he was amazing in Seasons 1-3 and Coster-Waldau did well but since then his character has just suffered horribly by poor writing (as has Brienne's), become worse and worse and this is just taking that further to a lower level.

@Julian I also took them with a grain of salt but the on-set leaks which includes videos, eyewitnesses and photos has proven that most of them are true. Nothing has been found to be false so far.

I mean the summaries probably make it sound worse than it actually is since you have no visuals or dialogue to elevate them.

Unlike GRRM, they also have a deadline to finish writing their scripts within 6 months. And without GRRM's books, they don't have an outline just some bullet points that they may or may not hit depending on whether it makes sense and if they haven't cut it out.

About the only parts that I kind of like:

Gendry becoming Edric Storm and becoming the new Baratheon Heir.

Euron's Roman Triumph at King's Landing.

That's it. Everything else I dislike: About the only parts that I kind of like:

I especially don't see the point of Cersei's pregnant storyline. It just seems so...gendered. You know finally this evil queen gets power and is set to be a villain, and she gets knocked up to explain/forgive her actions...yeesh.

Dany and Jon? That is gross. Super, super gross. Like ew.

I dunno what's going on with Jaime anymore...his character's dorection was very different in the books. Here, he feels stagnant.

And I will be shocked if Gendry comes back. And I wonder if Mel will appear or simply go away. Speaking of Mel, Davos calling her out on Shireen reminded me how great he is. ;___;

Also, I assume Lyanna Mormont is known to be best character on the show?

@lu Lyanna Mormont is an extremely popular character in the fan community.

About Mel, the leaks say she appears a few times next season.

@Julian I think the idea behind the pregnancy is that it gives Jaime a reason to stay with Cersei and it gives her a hope spot that is supposed to be taken away from her at the end.

Which begs the question:

If they wanted Jaime to stay with Cersei why did they establish and build a conflict between them at the end of Season 6 when he glares at her and sees her at the throne. And when exactly did Cersei and Jaime conceive new kid? The last time they slept together was the night Tywin died, and then they were arguing the days after Tywin's death....then Cersei spent an entire period in captivity under the Sparrows and was under Unella's watch for most of S6. How exactly could Jaime and she concieve a child believably in this situation? Now of course the twist could be that it's not Jaime's....maybe Mountain, maybe Qyburn..."She's been f—king Lancel, Qyburn and The Mountain for all I know" scans well with the original. But the problem is Jaime would immediately know she is lying.

There's really no indication of that in the books at all and I have been on the ASOIAF fandom well enough to know that theory is not popular or well known at all.

I mean the prophecy says Cersei will have three children who will predecease her. How is this subplot going to impact that other than a "f—k fate" way. Where's the drama, the tragedy and the pathos?
