The thing is though, neither Trystane or Quentyn are supposed to be heirs to Dorne. Arianne is.

Which is why I'm so mad. D&D can't have more than one woman in the show be in a position of power now, can they? Also, they recast Aimee Richardson as Myrcella with another actress who's actually younger than her. What the actual fuck???

[up][up][up] Agreed. She's jaelous/condescending and lashes out at them, calling them/thinking they are stupid. Remember, however, that Sansa and her friends were the only women (or rather girls. that's an important distinction) she had met during her entire life in Winterfell.

It makes a nice contrast with her (admittedly show only) meeting with Brienne. They almost immediately have a "bonding" moment and she seems to develop a slight respect for her.

[up][up] And the one woman with power that is a Po C. : /

The other reason that I have problem with the bloody woman line like is that it hurts Jaime's character.

But you know his response to that is much less infuriating than all his other stuff.

Also, there are legit instances of Arya thinking of Sansa (and by extension/implication also her friends) as stupid. There is one scene where she hears a song about a woman who commits sucide after her husband is killed. Arya thinks the song sucks and that the woman is a moron who should avenge her husband instead, and also makes a mental note that Sansa would probably adore it, in a way that seemed a lot more condescending than jealous to me.

[up][up][up][up][up] Brienne "wishing" to be a man had more to do with her wanting to make her father proud/accept her. Nothing self-loathing, IMO.

[up][up][up][up] Well, Myrcella has already been aged-up for the show. They are supposed to keep her as young as possible. So that recast makes sense.

[up][up] Dude, Jaime raped his sister and you're concerned about some line Brienne said? waii

[up] No it doesn't? Myrcella is aged up, but you recast your actress, who's already close to the appropriate age, with a younger actress. How the hell does that make sense?

Book!Jaime defends a woman from being raped. Book!Jaime would never rape anyone, especially women. I hate D&D forever because of what they did to Jaime's characterization.

@Druplesnubb That's because Sansa and her friends bully Arya. Mostly Sansa's friends though.

Jeyne coined the phrase Arya Horseface and they neigh whenever they see her. So it's completely understandable that she would think they specifically were idiots.

Because they thought the younger actress was better?

[up][up][up] Because they didn't want to have her played up by 18 year old? Seems logical to me. Especially when you consider how badly age has caught-up with Isaac, Sophie & Maisie.

[up][up] Well, you agree then.

@higher Hell, Jaime beheads a guy for raping Pia.

@Logo P and Druples Yes, I agree that Arya doesn't like Sansa's friends but it's not because they're girls and she looks down on them for it.

Also you're twisting things a bit here. You're thinking that Arya would push her gender down because a few girls were mean to her.

@Druples Also where is it mentioned in the text that Arya knew like 3 girls in her time in Winterfell?

Show!Jaime, though nicer in terms of behaviour, is less virtuous than book!Jaime. He killed his own cousin : /

Though i'm still not sure whether book!Jaime wouldn't have done the same. He was a distant cousin, after all.

[up][up] Nobody ever said that she "pushes down her own gender". She just thinks that most girls (not grown women, mind you) she met are stupid. Due to her experienced with Sansa and her friends.

[up] I stand corrected, then. Still can't see why it's such a big deal. Tommen's recasting was pretty similar and nobody raised an eyebrow.

[up] Okay, but where does it say that Arya knew like only 3 girls in the books?

Okay let me explain this as well

Anti-femininity is misogyny no matter how you look at it.

Nowhere in the books does it imply that Arya is anti-feminine.

[up][up]I think it's weird that she was recast by an actress that's a year younger than her? Seriously, the new Myrcella is 15 years old IRL.

[up] That's the issue. I don't see how that's weird. The new girl might just be a better actress.

[up][up] She's 11, a girl and lived her entire life in Winterfell. It's not difficult to assume it.

And Arya isn't anti-feminine. She dislikes Sansa & co not because of their femininity but because they mock her. Plus they are, as you said, considerablybetter than her (and more "proper") in many things. So jealously also plays a major role here.

Seriously, when a girl as young and sheltered as her says "most girls are stupid", she can't mean anyone but only the girls she knows. And don't forget that she loves and respects her mother. So it's not like she hates women in general.

[up][up][up]She might know some other girls, but probably not any that she's on good terms with. I'd imagine that if she knew any other girls they would either ignore her or treat like Sansa does (that usually tends to happen to kids who are "weirdos" and "bad at everything"). If you compare with say Sansa who's female friends are mentioned several times by both Arya and Sansa herself, neither of them ever mention Arya having any friends beside her brothers and that boy that got killed by Sandor. Though I admit that this is venturing straight into speculation territory.

Why do you people assume a major character being cut means they don't matter and not just Dungeons and Dragons deciding that they can be cut because they think as long as they get to the same end point they can do whatever the fuck they want in the interim? Gurm is on the record saying that Loras' brothers are gonna be important characters, and they cut them anyway.

Arya's line in the show could definitely be interpreted as just showing that Arya has her flaws, and actually does think most other girls are stupid. The way it comes off, though, is D+D wanting the viewers to nod their head in agreement and go "yeah, sick burn, Arya".

The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again.
