What precisely is that a link to?

I know it's a link to dA, I mean is it a drawing, fanfic, what?

It's funny only if you got the true ending.

Otherwise I recommend skipping it, might be considered spoilerish.

I was planning to.

Started my third playthrough now. Going to go through Door 8 this-a time. After this, I think I'll have gotten all the rooms (besides the 9 ones, obviously), so I can start focusing on doing the things I think have merit (like following up Room 4, and Lotus's dog picture, plus the crystalization of glycerine with Seven's discussion about the detergent, or starting off with Room 5, since you've gotta get the Safe ending for the True Ending, and I'm pretty sure "Safe" starts with, well, the safe that be in there.

RANDOM QUESTION: I know the characters are based on the Enneagram of Personalities, but does each number correspond directly to the character, or are they mixed up a bit?

Waitwhat? I know I'm butting in here having not even started a single runthrough (or even downloaded it for that matter), but what you say about the enneagram intrigues me. I know of (one perspective of) the enneagram personality thing, but it surprised me to read you say that it's referenced in 999. Is this true? Or more to the point, how true is it?

I think it comes from the spoilerriffic giant creator FAQ, which I obviously have not peeped at yet but have seen mentioned in passing. It's mentioned right on the first page of this topic, at any rate.

When I eventually get around to this, I am definitely going to be looking out for who fits which point on an enneagram. I mean as I've been reading this thread (including spoilers; they mean little without context so I should be fine) I've noticed that several names - if not all of them - line up with numbers, and I was going to make a comment regarding this... but I didn't expect the enneagram to be relevant, despite the number nine's prevalence.

All the names line up with numbers (except Junpei). They explicitly take pseudonyms based on their number near the beginning of the game, because they don't trust each other.

Here's the list of characters and their corresponding enneagram, according to the answers page.

Ima spoiler this, because I'm not 100% sure if these will give anything away. I'm unfamiliar with them. Perhaps someone who knows em can make a comment about their level of spoilerness.

Achiever - Ace Investigator - Snake Enthusiast Santa Loyalist - Clover Challenger - Junpei Peacemaker - June Helper - Seven Individualist - Lotus Reformer - 9th man

@Freezeair,

Make sure you set aside like 5 hours because once you get the safe ending you'll be dying to finish up the true ending.

It's obvious that each character's name and number are related; I was asking if their enneagrams line up with their number.

[up]No I believe they are out of order.

I was referring to a comment earlier.

I'll go with out-of-order for now. Although I have a few suspicions about what "numbers" (as in enneagram) some characters really are...

I was referring to a comment earlier.

I was talking to Sabbo, who was working with limited information on the game and therefore didn't know the obvious. That's also why I didn't bother covering it with spoilers, since it's part of the basic premise of the game.

Just got the Knife ending. Although from what was happening, I thought for certain I was on the way to the Coffin ending.

Can't say I was expecting there to be two 9 doors.

[up][up]I'm sure you're aware, but the coffin ending is useless. If you do the "safe" then the "true" you automatically get coffin. It's like a half-assed true ending.

How many endings have you seen?

Knife, Axe, and Submarine. I.E., all of the ones that involve my horrible death.

I'm going to do what I think I have to in order to get Safe before I look at a guide for it. Then on to True.

Horrible deaths all around. grin

I wonder how many times Junpei has died in the combined playthroughs for everyone who has played this game...

I bet it's a number that has a digital root of 9. [lol]

Also, two "lol" moments from this playthrough:

  • When with June next to the elevator, choosing "She's afraid of being alone with a boy." I think Aerosmith would be proud. [lol]
  • And by the 9 doors: "I don't want to escape with this sausage-fest."

Yea, that "wet" conversation is quite hilarious.

Here's a very unspoilerific hint, but I'll spoiler it in case you want absolutely no help.

Regarding the statement that the coffin ending is useless: I think from a storytelling perspective, it's more interesting to get the coffin ending on its own first.
