No 40K thread yet? I'm surprised. Nay, shocked, shocked I say to discover there's gambling going on in this establishment...
I'm eagerly anticipating the imminent 5th Edition release, personally, but I was interested to know if anyone here plays and has a differing opinion on it. There are certainly plenty of people out there who seem to think that 40K 4th edition "only just" came out and that a new edition isn't needed. Anyone?
Warhammer Fantasy (including Age of Sigmar and WFRP) has its own thread here.

Wraithknights, actually.
Also known as the cheesiest thing in the current Eldar Codex.
Wonder why, aren't they the same size?
I meant isn't a Wraithlord the same size as a Knight.
Oh, yeah, my bad.
Yeah, about the same size, give or take. There's probably a little more moss behind the Knight though, even if it is shorter.
I meant is a Wraithlord the same size as an Imperial Knight, but yeah, I'm pretty sure those are Wraithknights now.
EDIT: Yeah, it does say that the Eldar get Wraithknights as their Super unit.

So I know that thing at the end of the trailer with all the dead space marines and Orks and such falling into a mass grave is supposed to be symbolic and everything, but as a Chaos player I can't help but look at it and think, "Yeah, that's totality Chaos plot, or if not there's no way there not going to take advantage of all that death, to summon/create some massive grater daemon of Nergal or something."
Or is that just me?
is clear that relic is going back to their roots with Macha, Angeos and gorgutz, the three more intersting chararter of the series, granted we need Eliphas to make thing more intersting.
And about why they dont move thing into 42 is because what it come next is the end times, just like fantasy, while this game have a little bit of freedom but even them things are going to end once thngs move forward and the sign are clear.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Well it looked a lot like something that could be directly in Khorne's territory to me, in view of the Skull Throne.
Khorne's inbox, if you will.
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."if Macha and Gorgutz Ead Unter are back then I want more General Sturnn!
advancing the front into TV TropesAlso aparenly they retcon his death in blood and thunder, that is a good thing.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Strunn never died! his medals alone offer him more protection than Terminator armour!
advancing the front into TV TropesI found the image I wanted to illustrate my inbox comment.

Oh look, another 40k game.
Looks solid, though I'd prefer more gameplay that shows us how the game actually is.
Ok, one question here: now many damns games of warhammer it is? suddenly they pop more game than primarch
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"That's because GW have basically opened up the license to anyone who wants to use it?
Like, there seems to be basically zero quality control on GW's license, which results in a whole lot of really crap cash-in games and the occasional gem of a game (40k Armageddon is a favorite of mine, and I hear stellar things about the new Battlefleet Gothic.)
Still not embarrassing enough to stan billionaires or tech companies.Hooooooooly cow...GW's put up a MASSIVE list of beta-level FAQs on their FB profile, as well as two errata, one of which specifies that non-profile witchfire powers like Psychic Shriek don't have to roll To Hit.

Yeah it's the compilation of the results from their Facebook page asking for FAQ contributions. First draft as well, so they clearly intend to tighten it up too.
For today's 2nd Edition Thursday: Skimmers.
In 2nd Edition Skimmers had a number of special rules that other vehicles didn't. As you would expect, Skimmers were able to ignore terrain features when moving as they can now but they also had the option of landing. If the Skimmer is moving at Slow Speednote then it could land at the end of its turn and remains on the ground until it moves off at Slow Speed again in subsequent movement phases. They could also halt and hover in one spot and infantry could only disembark or embark on a hovering or landed Skimmer.
If a moving or hovering Skimmer goes out of control for any reason then rather than they used their own out of control move rather than the regular onenote . Out of control Skimmers moved 3D6" in a random direction and then had to roll a D6 on the following altitude table: 1 The Skimmer swoops down and crashes into the ground; 2-5 the Skimmer stays at the same altitude; 6 The Skimmer zooms straight up, stalls and then crashes to the ground 2D6" away in a direction determined by the scatter dice.
Skimmers also had a special attack that they could make if they were hovering or traveling at Slow Speed in the previous turn called a Pop-Up Attack. Pop-Up Attacks saw the Skimmer move upwards instead of across the table and the rulebook suggests that you place the model on top of a mug to represent the attack. When making shooting attacks that turn, a Skimmer making a Pop-Up Attack traced their line of sight to a target as if they were 12" above the table, there was no increase in the range of the attack but enemy models on Overwatchnote firing at a Popping-Up Skimmer added 12" to their range. After the shooting attack was completed the Skimmer dropped back down to its regular altitude.
Skimmers were only able to be engaged in hand-to-hand combat by ground troops if the Skimmer had landed, as it is assumed they increase their altitude enough to be out of reach of any attack, but Skimmers were unable to run over enemy troops because of the risk of crashing into the ground (they could still ram vehicles and buildings however).

Two questions: 1) Should the recently-added Statler And Waldorf stinger on the page be cut? 2) Should we be thinking about creating a Franchise page where all of the different spin offs can be listed, to take some of the bloat off the game's page?
The Stinger could probably be purged without much issue. I don't know about a franchise page as the franchise and the core game are pretty much the same but a Black Library page could be an idea. Maybe a Specialist Game page as well.
The Stinger could also go to the books subpage.
Ugh, I just realized something XD I thought, in the trailer, that the Eldar constructs that those Knights were fighting were Eldar Titans, but they're actually just Wraithlords XD
