Also, I'm still a little rankled by the fact that This Very Wiki spoiled Citizen Kane for me (I hear about it and a short while later it's spoiled by me innocently clicking a trope that ended up being named after a spoiler), so I'm siding with Shive. Call me irrational, but that's my story and I'm sticking with it.

You are irrational. You can't participate in any kind of discussion of film without knowing about the big spoilers. Saying everyone needs to spoiler text everything is basically saying we're not allowed to have coherent conversation!

Dan's point isn't that you can't spoil stuff, it's that "Come on, it came out fifteen years ago, everyone's seen it by now" is a stupid reason to do it. And he's totally right. Even our own spoiler policy only declares Spoilers Off on stuff that's, like, Shakespeare old.

That's for main pages, not conversations.

So there are different standards for what people say in conversations and what you put on a frickin' billboard.

I like tea (Earl Grey, Chai, black with lemon), though I don't drink it all that much. My mom never let me have coffee because she didn't want me to become dependent like her and I don't like the taste anyhow. But she gets headaches and things without it. She's always trying to switch to tea, then goes back to coffee. But I did not know it could mess with your system so much that your body permanently can't function without it.

Well, coffee is addictive, although breaking the addiction isn't necessarily as bad as it first appears. Honestly, aspirin (or a similar painkiller) and plenty of water is generally enough to alleviate the withdrawal symptoms of caffeine addiction in all but the absolute worst cases.

I say this as someone who regularly does "caffeine resets" when I worry that I'm getting too dependent on coffee.

Although, just to confuse matters, some painkillers have caffeine in them.

I keep forgetting that's not something everyone knows. But yeah, Fuzzy Boots is right - if you are trying to cut down your caffeine consumption/kick a caffeine addiction, and you are going to use water and a pain reliever to do so, check to make sure the pain reliever in question doesn't use caffeine. Of the four pain relievers I've used extensively, Tylenol, Aleve, and Advil do not have caffeine, but Excedrin does.

Meh, I don't get caffeine addiction. I mean first of all it requires you to choke down one of the most common and repulsive substances on the planet (coughee). And then people my age and younger use it to stay awake.

Uh hullo, we have youth. I'm 23, overweight, barely exercise, but can get myself up and attentive unaided, people are just screwing themselves over for the rest of their days by getting hooked so early. I just don't get it.

I'm pretty sure I've got a caffeine addiction from coke.

I'm pretty caffeine-resistant, but I still like a cup or two of coffee in the morning for a pick-me-up.

As a consequence of drinking Dr. Pepper like water since I was in the single-digits, coffee has minimal effect on me. I can down a cup or two just before bed.

I need harder things like energy drinks. Even those have reduced potency due to my caffeine tolerance. Those 5-Hour Energy Shots can last me a good two hours, though, so that's nice.

Some people substitute caffeine for sleep. And I remember talking to a law student that said that they hand out coffee in the law buildings in the morning and that pretty much no one there functioned without caffeine. Also, coffee doesn't taste so bad if you get the ones with an insane amount of sugar and whipped cream at Starbucks. What I never got was how people drank it black.
