Four: Yeah, that's a tough one. Four had by far the longest tenure of the show, and a lot of great or defining moments. Maybe his speech from Ark?
Five: Caves of Androzoni, full-stop. Preferably that infamous cliffhanger. "So you see, I'm not going to let you stop me now!"
Six: How about his speech from Trial of a T Imelord?
Ten: No clue. Sorry.
Doctor Who — Long Way Around: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13536044/1/Doctor-Who-Long-Way-AroundWhat's that quote from The Next Doctor where 10 is asked why he's traveling alone and he replies that his companions move on "as they should" but then his stepford smiler slips and he says "and sometimes they forget me"
I think that illustrates Ten's personal struggle (he keeps ruining his companions lives and is super sad about it but doesn't do anything with those feelings except try and brush them off)
Alternatively: "Whatever you've got planned, forget it. I'm the Doctor. I'm 904 years old. I'm from the planet Gallifrey in the constellation of Kasterborous. I am The Oncoming Storm, the Bringer of Darkness and you are basically just a rabbit, aren't you?"

Hmm...those two clips both seem to work.
For want of a better option, I'll use the Androzani cliffhanger as well (I was hoping for something a little more standard, if anyone has anything).
That still leaves Ten...
I thought of that, but I'd prefer something from his tenure.
The other one's good, but I think I'd prefer something else...

Oh God! Natural light! The Timey-Wimey ball speech. Him looking sad in the rain. The weird little tangent about pears in the tape from Human Nature.
"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."...Alright, I've narrowed it down to two - either the Timey-Wimey speech from "Blink" or the "What do monsters have nightmares about?" bit from "The Girl in the Fireplace".
What do you guys think?
Oh God! Natural light!Timey Wimey might be good.
Girl in the fireplace might also work because that's from his first season.
One Strip! One Strip!Got the exact quote I'm looking for from The Next Doctor. I really think it's your best bet.
"I take it this is goodbye?" "Onwards and upwards." "But tell me one thing, all those facts and figures I saw throught out the doctor's life, you were never alone. All those bright and shining companions.. but, not anymore?" "No." "Might I ask why?" "They leave. Because they should. Or they find someone else. But some of them- some of them... forget me. I suppose in the end... they break my heart. " "That offer of Christmas dinner; it's no longer a request; it's a demand." "In memory of those we've lost? Go on then." "Really?" "Just this once you've actually gone and changed my mind. Not many people can do that. Jackson, if anyone had to be the Doctor I'm glad it was you" "The feast awaits! With me, walk this way." "I certainly will, Merry Christmas to you Jackson" "Merry Christmas to you Doctor"
EDIT: just rewatched the "what do monsters have nightmares about" and it's pretty good, it's probably the best exploration of what Ten was before his character development. Slightly air headed stick figure who can be a little bit creepy and intense but will happily drop that to swashbuckle.

Alright, Girl in the Fireplace it is.
I might change my mind later, but as it stands:
- One: "Have you ever wondered what it's like to be wanderers in the fourth dimension?"
- Two: "No one in the universe can do what we're doing."
- Three: Swordfight with the Master in "The Sea Devils".
- Four: Discovering the hibernating humans in "The Ark in Space".
- Five: "I'm not going to let you stop me now!"
- Six: "Trial of the Time Lords" speech.
- Seven: "Throw away your gun" from "The Happiness Patrol".
- Eight: The shoes.
- Nine: "The turn of the Earth" speech from "Rose".
- Ten: "What do monsters have nightmares of?"
- Eleven: "Basically, run."
- Twelve: His pleas to the Masters in "The Doctor Falls".
Thoughts?
Oh God! Natural light!Absolutely brilliant collection!
Especially twelve. "Because it's kind" is just, one of the best speeches of Doctor Who in presenting a Doctor's struggle.
Surprised you didn't go with "Live at Stonehenge" for Eleven.

Twelve's is fucking perfect. That scene still gives me chills.
Though then again, so does Seven's.

Doctor Who — Long Way Around: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13536044/1/Doctor-Who-Long-Way-AroundI'd go with "Every great decision creates ripples" from Remembrance for Seven. Or maybe even him talking Light to death in Ghost Light if you wanna play up his manipulative streak. Besides that, all stellar choices.
(I mean I personally would say the moment that best incapsulates Seven is the moment in Ghost Light where, after asking Control for help with the rapidly snowballing situation, she gets paranoid and jumps out a window, leading him to bemoan that "even I can't play this many games at once." But that's not got a lot of grandeur to it.)
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.edited 11th Apr '18 5:18:41 PM by Whowho
what about war
My first thought would be his line "Great men are forged in fire, it is up to lesser men to light the flame.", but without context it's easy to miss that he's referring to himself as a lesser man. A fact that Day of the Doctor advertising took advantage of.

"I have no intention of surviving this" "then that's your punishment; you live"?
Like Eight, most of War's best... okay, most of his stuff was audio only, so there's only so much stuff you can pull for him. His 'lesser men light the flame' bit might be a good choice though.

Doctor Who — Long Way Around: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13536044/1/Doctor-Who-Long-Way-AroundI won’t be using War - this is meant to be shown to people unfamiliar with the show, so his existence is still kind of a spoiler for them. Plus, he only had one televised story anyway, and he’s a retcon to boot.
Oh God! Natural light!every doctor after one was a retcon tho
Like, there was no indication that the Doctor wasn't a human from a future Earth colony until War Games, and he was always referred to as having only one heart until Three. Nobody knew regeneration was a thing until Troughton.
Tom Baker's The Brain of Morbius established that there were eight Doctors before Hartnel, and then Deadly Assassin said a Time Lord could only regenerate twelve times, meaning Peter Davison as the Thirteenth Doctor should have been the last one.
clearly this all means we should all be watching the show backwards

> what about war
After what he did he's not worthy of being called Doctor

New theme music also a box"Go back to your lives. Go and be the man I could never be."
Doctor Who — Long Way Around: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13536044/1/Doctor-Who-Long-Way-AroundOoo, good answer, with ten and eleven's response of "you were the Doctor when it was impossible"
...
...
...
...It's not that I don't have an answer, it's just that...it's THAT answer.
To be honest, I think that just means there's something wrong with me. I'm sure someone else can name another moment.
Edit: Wow, it feels like all his most memorable moments were him doing really really awful things, or really hypocritical things.
Isn't there something that could be called good? Cause it's really feeling like Ten was the evil one.
