This is the thread for discussion of The Order of the Stick plot, characters, etc. We have a separate thread for discussing game rules and mechanics. Excessive rules discussions here may be thumped as off-topic.

Well now. Now everything's come to light, and Hel's plan makes a lot more sense.
What was Hel's ill-concieved deal with Odin, anyway? Is there something in the original myths that would tell us?
I have a message from another time...... Oh, so I (and several others) was right about the catch about Hel getting all of the dwarves if the world was ended.
And I assume the demigods in question are the Stone guys Durkula vampirized, right?
Interesting that Loki apparently is Hel's father in this version too.

nope. The Stone guys don't have a god. Well, I guess they do now, but she's already voted. I hypothesized that already and was shot down.
The plan is with Uncle Thor.
I'm guessing that their peoples constantly wage war so that no dwarf dies in disgrace.

Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youOoh, interesting. So sort of like a good guy version of the Odin/Loki scheme in American Gods
Remember how we thought strip 1000 would be another anti-climax?
So I'm a writer...We were expecting Rich to adhere to tradition?
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youAnd Roy's going old school action hero, but Hel either has a plan for that as well, or just assumes it won't matter being a god and all.
Whatever the case, the feces has not only struck the air rotation device, but has also gotten three dimensional.
I'm so glad I stopped trying to figure out what her plan was. Made it more fun when she spelled it out, though in hindsight, maybe she shouldn't have bothered explaining it, but we'll see if that affects anything.
It's funny the other gods didn't consider that when they came up with this, but since she apparently wasn't invited in the first place (and has no cleric anyway), I suppose they didn't expect it to be an issue.
One Strip! One Strip! The actual demigods would be voting through their priests, same as the full gods have been doing, so it wouldn't matter if their priests had been vamped, except to the extent that a vamped priest probably now counts as Hel's rather than their former god's and wouldn't participate in the tiebreaker at all.
I suppose that could be Hel's scheme; vamp all the priests of demigods she expects to vote no and let the ones she expects to vote yes go on and break the tie.
Of course, if Durkula gets dusted before they get into the room it doesn't matter. Dramatic tension!
she her hers hOI!!! i'm tempeRandom thought- the High Priestess of Freyja looks either really happy or really turned on, maybe both.
All the clerics do. Huh.
Anyway, I'm thinking- why not start Ragnarokr? The final battle? Watch Hel's epic plan unravel as the Dwarves enter a multi-million man melee to earn their way to their honorable deaths?
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youSort of. You can kind of tell who the good and evil (and neutral) ones are based on their reactions. The High Priest of Fenrir doesn't look pleased.
Edit- Although, the High Priest of Loki has a pleased/friendly smile, and there's a decent chance he's evil.

Hoder's priest has her back turned. I'm guessing by the Prophet Eyes that she's blind?
WAIT
If Durkula dies in battle... Does that mean Hel doesn't get him back?

Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youYes. Although I think if he dies in battle, his soul would be destroyed, so it's kind of a moot point.
My understanding is that when you kill a vampire, the original soul goes to the afterlife they earned from life and the demon possessing them ceases to exist.
There are now official PDFs of Dungeon Crawlin' Fools and On the Origin of PCs.

If Durkula dies here, doesn't that break the prophecy that Durkon will cause destruction to the dwarven lands when he returns?
I have a message from another time...Considering what's going on right now (aren't they either close to the Dwarves lands or actually in them right now?), I think he's already fulfilling the prophecy.
Even if it's technically not him doing it.
One Strip! One Strip!I don't think he will die here.
If the world was destroyed (which it won't be), then the prophesy would technically be fulfilled because he brought death and destruction to his homeland (as well as everywhere else).
I think it's more likely he'll escape to there and destroy the final Gate.

Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.There wouldn't be a "glorious battle" if the Gods vote to end the world. It would be "go directly to the afterlife, do not pass Go, do not collect 200 honor."
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Note: The Demigod Clerics don't vote, their dieties do.
...Which means they share Hel's grievances with the greater Gods. Smart.
"You are never taller then when standing up for yourself"ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Also fun fact: Roy still doesn't know that's not Durkon in there. So if he "kills" Durkula, then has him raised, all before finding out what vampires are like...he's going to be incredibly suspicious if Durkon tells him about the HPH.

One Strip! One Strip!Any bets on whether the rules prevent a cleric buffing a bodyguard who is attacking their own cleric?
Loki, this may be your cue.
....How would the gods KNOW this?
