Don't you remember? Gil gave up to spare her Klaus' wrath.
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987Eeeee! The Gil votes win!
My guess is that, yes, it's Gil. And he's indeed cooperated with Klaus AND he thinks he's doing the right thing.
My.
And if not, oh, is it ever getting complicated!
Mostly Harmless.Franz has seen Gil ... but I think he may have something to say about this. And I don't see Agatha giving up so easily.
Does she dare do the ZZzzzaaP! from her present post? She may have no choice.
And she has a better picture of what's going on on the ground than Gil wants to show her.
I don't think Gil thinks he's doing the right thing. I don't know that he believes that he's been wasped; I am sure that he trusts Tarvek's interpretation of the Storm King wolf tale, at least as far as Tarvek made the case; and I expect he's trying to play Tarveks double-double-cross chess.
Agatha might consider sacrificing herself for the Kestle and the Burg by zapping down the lightning from where she sits. Having been energized once by the Dyne, she has some home of survival. It's harder to tell about Franz. Gil's safety is the only thing that might be stopping her.
Or she might go with Gil and send Franz away in order to get a safe place to Zzap from. In which case she might have to treat Gil as she treated Othar ... except that she can't toss him overboard.
Meanwhile, Boris made a point of asking whether there might be a second Spark-infecting wasp precisely to decide whether to trust Gil or Klaus. We don't know what action he might be taking on that basis.

I want to see the firefly in the air and weasels!
Levity is what keeps airships afloat. Everything else is just ballast.Well, if it is Gil, and I think it is, he's acting all alpha male like usual; then I guess we'll see if he's wasped or not pretty quickly eh? I don't think Agatha will jump into his little seashell there, like Aphrodite from the sea. She'll wave his amped up lightning rod at him and tell him all her plans.
And yes, Gil always does what he thinks is the right thing, self-sacrificing dolt.
I think I'm miffed because I really want Agatha to win this one, and I don't like him showing up as a white knight.
Anyone else think something's bound to pop up out of the dormer Agatha just landed on?

Like Krosp/Zeetha/Moloch getting out of the window just for fun? Bonus point if it is Tarvek. Should prepare the genre savvy monologue but preparing myself to get out of trouble fast might not be a bad idea. Preparing those running shoes tonight; if possible I'll see to get a photo while I'm at it.
Well here goes nothingOh, I like the idea of Krosp coming out the window. Tarvek's back on the ground, so if he shows up, I think it will be in the firefly as Rejfan wishes. Zeetha is certainly possible too. But Krosp tickles my fancy.
Yeah, no matter what, it's a series norm for any of the male heroes, but particularly Gil, to offer Agatha a classic "I shalt rescue thee, damsel" option, and Agatha either rejects it with a squawk, or messes it up, or fails to get it in the first place, or turns around and rescues him.
Hmmmmmm......
What kind of flip can they do with this?
Oh, and as this comes down, I worry more for Franz. But I think more and more that Der K will activate nicely and turn Klaus' dominance on its head.
No, Tarvek will come up in his jet-propelled armor. It was created and established for things like this.

Mostly Harmless.I think Gil must have escaped Klaus's control, otherwise why would Klaus let Gil anywhere near Agatha? Even if he thinks Gil's been cured, I'd expect him to test it first. All assuming that Klaus actually believe's Gil's been wasped. That's all such a tangle, and I keep playing with all the ends like a fascinated kitten.
I have to say, even with my fervent hope that Agatha gives his plans a firm raspberry, Gil's looking very dashing in that contraption. My brain wants to do some sort of literary thing with how he has come to Mechanicsburg, versus how Tarvek came, and be all profound about how Gil isn't actually connecting with the town; but he's just so cute, makes it difficult.

Given how much I play with the rule of fun with this one... given I'm not prone to bring any real dramatic guesses for the rest of the year.
Still a crossbow wielding jetpack coat using Tarvek would top the option by Gil.
Well here goes nothingI think one way or another it's Gil's turn to look like a rat-fink...whether deserved or not. I don't know if Klaus will prove to have lied to him successfully, or taken over control using any of a number of already-established methods, or what. But those boys reflect each other.
And if they didn't show us things...it's for a reason. So they can surprise us with a spin of some sort.
Mostly Harmless.Maybe Agatha will go in the window and do the zapping from inside the tower.
Adding plenty of collateral damage while at it. I'm liking the idea... if anyone wonders why the hell I'm still awake I'm under insomnia attack and as such I'm burning energy via multitasking including preparing ham.
Well here goes nothingGil is wearing a suit. So he is in official son mode and not off acting like a pirate. That portends poorly. Secondly he is touting that his father has bested Mechanicsburg. That would make a terrible story. So that is out. He need not have been wasped. Lu has some lovely mind control machines. Lu in Anevka need never sleep. She can be up to mischief all the time.
What did the Baron do to Gil? If Gil is off on his own he must have earned a heck of a lot of his father's trust. How did he do that? Or what was done to him that would increase Klaus's trust that much? Where is Dupree? I'd ask the same about Zoing but clearly someone has to be left behind to tend the goldfish.
Levity is what keeps airships afloat. Everything else is just ballast. The goldfish we saw in the first chapter... the one in the locker?
Well here goes nothingWe already know the Lu people know how to make those tubes to take control of people — we saw them in her Lair. We know she investigated that sort of things lots. There's really no reason not to suspect that once Gil cooperated she'd be able to implant controls, not using wasps, but using other tech...and easy enough to convince people she was helping when she wasn't doing anything of the sort.
And in the meantime we don't know where Klaus fits in, or really where Lu does, or what Zoing or Bang or Lilith and Adam or Boris fit in.
Meanwhile, too much work went into telling us what Der K CAN do when he works for me to believe they're not going to use it. They could do it later — let the town fall now, but be retaken later. But I truly think this is all saved up for this moment, when we will get to see Der K rear up and roar.
Mostly Harmless. There are too many ideas and leads going everywhere so someone might guess what the Foglios might have taken as their path and it is likely that they are checking some fan forums just to make some tweaks on the story just to avoid the Moxana Point pileup on only one person.
Well here goes nothingIt's Gil alright but he's definitely working on Daddy's team again...back to the old shenanigan of "I'll lock her up and keep her safe until she cooperates/I get this mess sorted". (sound familiar?)
Gil is losing MAJOR points with me right this second.....
DoodlesWe are forgetting that if the side stories are pretty much canon after a time solo we see that the true companions are Zeetha and Krosp.
Well here goes nothingOMG.
Ok. My odds on Gil running off with her one way or another just went way, way, way up. Because...
This is his Ogglespoon Moment!

Mostly Harmless.I'm with Franz on this one.
Gil looks quite mad.
He is dressed like he came straight from the embassy ballroom. His royal launch no less luxuriant and improbable in a war zone.
I can't believe for one moment that you could slip such a thing through the Wulfenbach blockade.
It looks as if Agatha may have unleashed the lightening when she fell. In which case, events are going to move out of Gil's control very quickly.
Maybe. May ... be. Even alone, Agatha's Super-Zappy Stick may be enough to wake the Kestle. Sort of like smelling salts.
I'll note that that landing on the dormer cannot have been very comfortable for Agatha, but it would have been really painful for Gil or Tarvek. Talk about endangering one's bearhood!

Men tend to underestimate just how much that can hurt if it lands as squarely as the drawing suggests. I mean... really, I know it's hard to believe it can hurt anywhere near as much as it does for you guys, but if it lands just right — or should I say "just wrong," it's all your momentum in a tiny, tiny space where you keep ALL the same nerves the guys have. All or very close to all. In less than an inch.
Hmmm. I wonder if Gil and Klaus could be trying on purpose to generate a story-telling "Ogglespoon" reference, playing the legend just the way the Storm King Conspirators tried.

Mostly Harmless. But making Gil fill the Ogglespoon role sets him as the villain, does it not? That seems like exactly the opposite of what Team Wulfenbach would want.
Hmm.
I'm really not trusting this. He's acting wrong. Interesting to see where this goes.
