I wonder if that piracy line could be comic foreshadowing. With the Foglios you never know.

[up]Well,I'm already on record as fully expecting some form of Piratical Detour. I think we may want to add this to the growing pile of foreshadowing, yes.

Note that Kitbashing in the middle of a battle means that the Wonder will fall apart at the end of the scene.
Curse you for bringing up Genius The Transgression, now I'm going to be statting characters for the next hour or so. Agatha: Grimm Demiurge, with all the Automata and Katastrofi that implies. Gil: Grimm Navigator, skillset includes Automata, Katastrofi, Skafoi, and Exelixi. Tarvek: Hoffnung Director with Epikrato, Metaptropi, and lot of Automata.

Why is Dimo so surprised a Heterodyne would Spark while fighting?
Agatha's been awfully grounded for a Heterodyne so far. There's been the occasional mountain-coring death ray or "we just have to kill you and then you'll be fine!", but she hasn't been noticeably madder than Gil or Tarvek. No dangerous sausage fountains or attempts to shoot down the moon.

[up][up]I think it's a callback to Gil telling Zola that he was a pirate. More parallelism between Agatha's boys. Course, it's always possible that Gil's purported profession was foreshadowing.

I have to say that I really wonder if Der Kastel is the character destined to die.

[up]Might be. I'd fear for Mechanicsburg, though, if that's the case. sad

I can file requests for modelling pirate garb if you want me to, but it'll be easier in one case to grab the calendar picture....

^^^ That would truly mean our heroes' darkest hour. It would make a nice contrast with the (relatively) lighter, more hopeful feel we got as Agatha entered Mechanicsberg to have it end with the entire town as rubble, our heroes scattered and in some cases in seemingly inescapable traps, their few trump cards destroyed and their hopes dashed.

So anyways, Word of God says someone's going to die, huh? I swear, this comic holds the record for plot points and secrets revealed and spoiled by the creators months if not years in advance. There's just so much content that the Foglios have revealed, which we probably won't even see the results of until years from now.

Well at least it isn't the speed of update of megatokyo which has this jewel regarding to something we should do now that you mention the time issues.

However as it is a good thing they give food for thought with time so debate can be thrown with properly handled ideas.

If you insist on the death of a major character, the most logical and emotionally satisfying choice is Klaus.

"The King is Dead! Long live the King!"

On going pirate.

Klaus has staked everything he has on the destruction of Mechanicsburg and Agatha's capture and death.

No matter what promises he has made to Gil... No matter how effectively he can push back The Other in his head...

He is convinced that Agatha is Lucrezia Prime. Heir to the Heterodyne and Mongfish Spark. The Other or the Other's Chief Revenant.

She has to die.

Klaus has never suffered a crushing military defeat.

To lose Mechanicsburg now —- after he has invested so much of his prestige and resources —- alienated many of his minions and allies —- and where victory seemed so close and so certain —- would be devastating.

Imagine for a moment that it is Klaus who is forced to break and run, not Agatha. That he will need will need months if not years to recover.

Isn't it at least possible that he will be the one to turn pirate?

Klaus would only go pirate once he is no longer under the influence of Lu.

I think Klaus is going to die. But I also think Agatha has to go on the run. Not sure how both of those things could happen...

De Marquis: "I think Klaus is going to die. But I also think Agatha has to go on the run. Not sure how both of those things could happen.."

After - years - of seeing Agatha on the run, it would be a welcome change to see her leading the chase.

I'd say it's far more likely Agatha will succeed in zapping the Castle back to life, and it will repel/destroy the Wulfenbach forces, leaving Agatha a secure base of operations while she, for whatever reason, heads off to Paris. And I agree that Klaus is at the top of the likely-kill list.

This story proceeds in a repeating cycle: from Struggle to Calamity, and thence to Escape skating by the skin of the teeth. It's as sure as Tinkers to Evers to Chance.

"Grind-hyu-own-sausage"? I always thought that you weren't supposed to see what got put into those things, if you wanted to still be hungry for them.

Ah, phlogiston. A mad science classic.

I have never seen a facial expression convey the concept of a Big "NO!" so effectively as Von Zinzer's in the last panel. Feel his misery. FEEL IT.

It may be easier just to capture the clank and then give it to the sparks... seems Moloch didn't mention it with time and the Jagers are going to bust it open. And yes poor Moloch has the Oh, Crap! at the same time.

There's a reason they are called Jaegers ... and we are going to watch a Sparky repurposing. How quickly can Agatha rebuild the Lava Cannons, I wonder?
