On the Heterodynes, the lesser bad and chaotic neutral guys siding with the good guys against the really big evil is a solid story structure in its own right. If nothing else, there's a lot of bad guys who don't want anyone else breaking into the cookie jar the good guys are protecting -and they definitely don't want it smashed.
Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry PratchettYeah. I'm getting that vibe, too. We've had several references to Andronicus' "new allies", and I'm increasingly convinced it isn't the Heterodynes. "Proto-Other" seems like a fair guess.
I agree, this just doesn't seem like Heterodyne hijinks to me.
Maybe thats what drove Euphrosnia away.
(Snaps fingers) That's the example I was trying to think of: the last few episodes of Justice League Unlimited where the JL and Lex Luthor's remaining Legion of Doom go "let's clobber Darkseid, then worry about little details like who's supposed to be in jail" (with a little "trust but verify" on the League's part).
If big shit is about to hit the outsized fan, the Heterodynes are a bunch you'd really rather have on your side.

Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry PratchettThe Master of Paris evidently has had a great deal of power on his side, and has managed to behave responsibly nevertheless—a sane Spark, such as Agatha is trying to be, such as Bill and Barry seem to have been. But Master Voltaire didn't trust the Heterodyne Boys, and is loathe to trust Agatha.
How much of what Agatha sees can Agatha absorb and reverse-engineer, I wonder?
Presumably enough to do nothing to make The Master more pleased with her.

This is an automated program that checks the Sneaky Gate every 5 minutes. source codeWell it is easy to lose some detail in history and the way they have been doing well either there is one detail going loose or it is on the information soup where you are not sure of what you received is right... which is something academia has to deal with, not only military.
Also on the cover itself it seems we are getting some spy err cat but no Krosp.
Well here goes nothingThe Library has its cat masters - I assume it's one of theirs.
For Voltaire's previous comments... to be fair, I think there's a bit of assumption going around. Strictly speaking, we don't know for sure who Van Rijn's patron is (I know it's popular to assume Andronicus because of the Muses, but that's still inference). I don't think it's been established that Voltaire specifically studied under Van Rijn... or, for that matter, that he apprenticed under only one Spark. And, of course, we're talking about things that happened over 200 years ago that apparently nobody really liked discussing. Lots of blank spaces that could be filled in by misinformation there.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.Taking his longevity into account, it doesn't seem unreasonable to suspect that Voltair did study under Albia. After all, she too is a powerful Sparky ruler who has managed to stay (as far as we know) relatively sane. Perhaps she took Voltair under her wing at some point, one Sparky ruler teaching another, fledgling one? (Rare behavior among sparks, but so is sanity in general and she had that, so maybe?)
A sci-fi story and a fantay story walk into a literal bar...This-world inventors, etc., swapped patrons and taught multiple students. It was Andronicus' official life that was canonically short, not van Rjinn's.
Anyone else take a good look at that ceiling on Wednesday's page? Look who the main topic of the stained glass pictures are!
Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry PratchettYes, yes, it's the Muses. My question is what the heck is that strange grey thing up next to the ceiling?
If it moves, eat it. If it doesn't move, kick it—then eat it!Smoke Knight, I thought.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Aside from the purple cloak, doesn't look like a Smoke Knight. Looks distinctly inhuman.
The legs bend in all the right places. They're wearing shoes and gloves. What looks inhuman about them?
Link to TRS threads in project mode here. The face. I haven't seen the Smoke Knights utilize masks very much, so I don't think it's that. Depending on how you interpret it, it's either the head of an owl or a cat. The page isn't in high enough resolution to get a better look.
It's Madwa Korel. Bandages around her arms and legs, shiny belt ornament, hair with a widow's peak. She's grinning widely, making her look inhuman.

Wow, good catch. Would not have seen that by a long shot.
I thought it was pretty obvious, to be honest.
It was going so well until it exploded.Madwa was around for a short while, then promptly disappeared. Considering the recent insanity going on with Andronicus showing up, like a true Smoke Knight she stealthily retreated from my memory.

This is an automated program that checks the Sneaky Gate every 5 minutes. source codeWell they might have packed some stuff to take a few days off the whole race so they could have cake. And like Zeetha they are going up against that mighty foe.
I guess the whole "days of extra art" are just onto stuffing up with cake.
Well here goes nothing
I think we need to .go reconstructing some history
