Could it be possible that Gil's hat (or part thereof) used to be Khrizhan's hat?
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Don't know I guess it was a custom built hat for someone they respected who lacked a hat (some people would be quite good, but lose their hat in the process) so they only had to stencil the name and sub note on the plates.
Unless the Foglios determine I can assume that Krishan's hat is still in storage, and is more personal than the undies.
Well here goes nothingComic for Friday, September 2, 2016: sneaky gate permalink
This is an automated program that checks the Sneaky Gate every 5 minutes. source codeSo, yup, we've found our sneaky Jagergeneral. Are the Foglios going to spell it out on Monday, or are they going to try and keep the question dangling?
Edit: It never occurred to me before, just how many rank-and-file Jagers know about the sneaky general, and know who it is?

http://www.mansionofe.comCONFIRMATION AT LAST!!! Yes, it was pretty obvious, but still nice.
Vole, the baby Jaeger General.
Well, it's not a *complete* confession, it could be interpreted otherwise (he may be just talking more abstractly about his youth) - but yeah, it's now 99% likely it's him.
Also, I wonder what *his* "all kinds of horrible things" are. It *might* mean that we'll learn that he's a famous horrible character from the past.
like grandpa when Maxim buys his hat. Old man rode with jagers and the granddaughter didn't believe.
That raises me a question: What did the Jagers do when they found out of the whole thing? Throw the Jager equivalent of a bachelor party?
Well here goes nothingI don't think this is any more confirmation than any of the other hints we've given. At this point, it's The Not Secret for the reader, but still.
I'm curious if a physical mutation automatically comes with the mental shift required for a general (or vice versa). That would suggest that Dimo, as much as I think he's great, isn't quite a general yet - he's pretty damn good, but still a rank-and-file Jager.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.I imagine Dimo considers it a temporary promotion until the real/permanent Generals are released from the time-bubble.
http://www.mansionofe.comSo Zeetha and Bang are both in luurve with Jaegergenerals? Though Bang might not care for Vole, Reformed.
Well, keep in mind, if the others are anything to go by, Vole may still be just as good at the smashy-smashy and the violence, just with purpose this time.
'Cuz every night, I will save your life. And every night I will be with you. And every night I lay awake and dream Of An AbsolutionThe part that seems most interesting to me is that Vole still seems like he misses the Heterodynes. Like, at the surface, he's frustrated with the approach of the current generation (although, based on the fact that he said "Masters," I suspect he isn't recognizing Agatha as yet and he's still referring to Bill and Barry), but in his heart, he's still loyal to the House of Heterodyne.
As for Dimo... well, he always just had a brevet rank in the first place, but there were questions as to how much it would stick. If the physical mutation is part of becoming a general though, as it stands he wouldn't. That said, I would suspect that it's not totally unreasonable to see Dimo Hulk Out and complete becoming a general in the near future (maybe even during the current arc). Also, that'd be pretty cool to see.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.I'm reasonably certain that the physical change is gradual, that all Jaegers get more monstrous over time. Vole seems to consider himself a young Jaeger, and isn't Dimo somewhere in the 250-300 range? The Jaegergenerals could be 500 or more.
The thing is, as tough as they are, Jaegers can still be killed. I bet most of them simply don't live long enough to be Jaegergenerals, and Jaegergenerals have lived long enough to be "fought out", as it were. Dimo said himself that life as a wild Jaeger made him more qualified to lead than most, learning to think first instead of just rushing in.
So Vole just got aged at least a century, probably more. Hence the mutation. And he felt like it was a hundred years of fighting. Hence the mindset.
I don't think Dimo's reallly a rank-and-file Jaeger anymore, even if he's not quite a full general. Maybe a Colonel?
Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry PratchettNot necessarily more monstrous, just "more." Grilka and Mama are conventionally attractive, and I'll bet Maxim continues to move along the far side of Bishounen Line as he ages ...
ETA: Mama Gkikka and Jenka!!. Thanks Candi - it's been long enough since we've seen them that I should have googled!

Those are all rational and reasonable points, and quite likely true.
...
I still want to see Dimo Hulk Out.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.I think Bang will become the opposite of a Morality Chain for Vole.
@Cheshire: do you mean Mama Gkikka and Jenka, and autocorrect was just being a pill?
Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry PratchettIt seems to me that Khrizhan and Goomblast maybe haven't grown up quite as much as Zog or Higgs. Or Mama G.

this is a totally satisfactory resolution, it really is!
If it moves, eat it. If it doesn't move, kick it—then eat it!You know, that's a good way to reveal something like this. Most readers already figured out who the mysterious general was, so it's good they went something a little low-key and more personally impactful.
Was Higgs the first Jaegergeneral? How old is he? Compared to the others?
The first Jager is implied to be Zog. The jager in the image of Vlad the Blasphemous first brewing the Jagerdraught is dressed like him.

Mama Gkika also claims that General Khirzhan once left his clothes behind when he left her establishment in a hurry. Some speculate this was the last time he possessed a hat.
This would actually make sense, in an odd way. Replacing his hat would mean admitting that he lost the old one, as opposed to taking his time getting it back.
