The trick with skin-permeable stuff is that anything that makes it more difficult to defend against also makes it more difficult to stop it from affecting you as well as your enemies ... and if you do manage to come up with something to keep yourself safe, then it can be used as a defense by your enemies.

I mentioned earlier that Vi was skilled enough to detect the two smoke-knights when no one else in the party seemed aware that they were there. And then she displayed what looks suspiciously like strategic thinking when she just left them there until they could prove useful.

I agree that Vi isn't really well-suited to be Agatha's smoke-knight in residence. She should appoint her spy-master instead. Jenka could report to her.

So....this is feeling more and more like Hoffman and Aldin are meant to be Gil and Tarvek. Wonder how the plot changed from the original plans...

Dunno it is verging between the No Hero to His Valet area.

I wonder if Bang captured Aldin and Tarvek at the same time? Bet they looked adorable in matching loincloths. I note that Aldin unlocked the lock very quickly during this conversation.

Love Agatha buoying up Violetta. There's a reason Heterodyne minions are loyal.

I feel bad for Vi. She's damn good at what she does, but only seems to focus on the areas where she lacks internal talent or acquired skill. What were her parents and teachers like!?

Although I'd call it tumbling out of DK myself.

If Tarvek and Aldin meet and go "You!!" in unison, I'm gonna laugh.

I like how Hoffman assumes that any coat that's not flame-resistant couldn't possibly be your favorite coat .

I'm thinking Agatha, while about to be distracted by catacombs, is not going to forget these interesting facts she's hearing.

Someone on the FB GG comic's up post pointed out something else Vi did; in the Castle of the Storms (the one they wound up in jumping through the portal), Vi managed to avoid all the other Knights and get Agatha out. Even with Krosp's help, that's impressive.

Another comment: She also managed to surprise Tweedle and Lu.

The girl needs to look at how good she is.

Edit: damn it, is Dinky DK as determined as the big version to help Agatha collect a harem?

Inside DK, Vi saved Agatha in the furnace scene when Gil and Tarvek were useless.

Ah, it's been a while since we've last seen Agatha's "SCIENCE!" face. Good times.

Also, quite impressive that Aldin managed to quickly pick the lock of a very complex-looking door with only what seem to be basic lockpicking tools.

Aldin is clearly VERY motivated to change the topic.

@Candi: DK in any sizes wants the bloodline to continue. It is just more subtle on getting the opposite sex ones now in fun travel size DK mode.

Hopefully it doesn't find a room it can lock Agatha and a likely prospect in...

I'm kind of scared to think what DK's thinking about the Hoffman brothers, even if the unengaged one isn't a Spark.

I am of the definite opinion that Aldin was hiding out in the library.

Hmm, there are cables running from the bell jar above the muse's head and over to the walls. Are we to believe that something like DK is running Paris? Yes, like Vi says, "Don't go in there."

Talk about playing with the fridge. Clever Foglios are clever...

What scared me is that it came up early. Maybe they left the REM monitor in the shop for a few days....

Like the Smoke Knight says, don't go in there!

This isn't your average B movie where the traps end at the treasure room door, after all. Unless you lift the important thingy on the central pedestal.

So that's, what, four of the nine accounted for?

They could really use Tarvek about now. That poor muse doesn't look in good shape, but then DK in Otilia didn't either and was plenty dangerous. The thing in the jar does look live, there's glow.

There's also light coming from behind that wall, which is casting an interesting shadow of the lantern on the ceiling.

And doesn't that wall look different from the rest? The mortar's sloppier, for one, and it appears to be blocking an archway... I'm definitely getting the impression that someone or something is bricked up behind there.

And today on Girl Genius:

Reasons to be eager for Monday.

I remember in "Police Operation", a character says "all time is totally present". (And a lot of other stuff that doesn't involve this point.)

I'm beginning to wonder how true the all time bit is in the GG verse. At least in the glow in that lantern.

If it's some kind of dangerous time-effect, I wonder if Dimo will be the one who has to go in, since he could survive being aged like Vole was...
