Well there is another detail, flame throwers are nice but when you consider the Greek fire ideas then it is... now my History training might be showing and if we add some wargames then it makes sense...

The problem becomes the effective range of the burning coals amongst others: wind speed and humidity can make a problem or two and if we add the fact that for the fire to start burning requires some decent exposure...

Why do I think that while it is a good idea there are plenty of places where it can go wrong just by technical issues alone (hair flammability is high as hell but it requires a decent exposure to the flame); unless I'm not thinking deviously enough like throwing two things in a row like incendiary material and then the match.

Also I think the bears might pat the fire down before it grows up unless you try the cluster approach which means plenty of small options at the same time.

So it has to stick a bit to make the hair catch fire, since a mini second fireball approach doesn't means that the fire will burn the hair... maybe I'm over analysing the scenario but it is better than the idle natter when you consider about it.

Now for it to go online I'll go to bed for it seems that while the REM monitor might be offline but there is also the option of it working, or at least it is keyed to when I'm brain dead in class.

Well, this is concerning. And highly perplexing. Just what is he expecting to happen?

Now we know why Krosp never walks on all fours, even when undercover.

But yes, I'm rather baffled as to why Brother Ulm thinks he's going to have to kill Agatha. It can't just be because she's a Heterodyne. Is there something specific that he knows she won't react well to...?

[up] I'm not sure whether he thinks that he's going to have to try to kill her, or that taking her there will actually kill her. Although I can't fathom why it would!

[up] I got the impression that he thought he'd have to kill her before taking her there killed everyone else. But this is a really bizarre thing to expect, especially if he expects it to happen regardless of anything Agatha chooses to do or not do!

I thought his comment about killing Agatha was hyperbole. *shrug* I think he expects Agatha to run amok with powers people were not supposed to wield. Perhaps the monks quarantine things that the world wots not of, like those clock roaches perhaps?

[up] Traditionally, treasure was hidden in monasteries because it was though that nobody would loot a sacred place. (This didn't work if the looters and marauders were heathens, agnostics, just didn't worry about God punishing them. tongue) The monks here may have dangerous weapons and doomsday devices in addition to the less dangerous valuable things (like gold) to guard. Eldrich abominations are also possible.

And how much you wanna bet that Brother Ulm remembers the Old Heterodynes and knows just how much collateral damage a Hero can cause?

Obviously there's something(s) in the sanctuary cars that will inspire Agatha to the Madness Place. It will no doubt eliminate the bears but will also expose the fact that the monks have something they'd rather the rest of the world not know about. Purely logical.

So we are thinking that it might be some artefacts or enough fantasy nukes for the monks to be actually scared of a spark to come into contact with them.

I think he's worried about taking her to the fortress, not the sanctuary cars — it's just, that's where those are going.

But it's not something that's forbidden to all Sparks, it seems — some of the monks are Sparks themselves. Something Heterodyne-specific?

I'm thinking look at what Klaus gathered in less than twenty years from Sparks and whatnot, then extrapolate to that the monks have been around a lot longer.

Maybe the fortress holds something taken from a past Heterodyne, and the family don't know who took it or where it went, but the monks are worried about what happens if/when Agatha finds out.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who thought of Krosp when Agatha made that 'good authority' comment. tongue

Edit: Maybe a Muse is involved, but I don't know why that would worry the monks in a Heterodyne-specific way.

I'm not sure that it's Heterodyne specific, but powerful non-Corbetite Sparks of any description.

It could also be something to do with the Other. She's admitted to being the Other' s daughter and there are rumors that she is the Other. They could be taking Klaus' high concern into account.

It could also be that they are worried about bringing not only the Heterodyne/Other scary strong Spark girl back to their holy toy box, but also the other scary strong Sparks hunting her.

[up] According to his Twitter, Othar was involved in the destruction of at least one Corbetite Train. He told the monks his version of events first, but I'm sure the Quester (who had also been present) eventually escaped the ropes and told them the real story.

Also- Hullabaloo sounds awesome! And yeah, If they make a Girl Genius animated feature, that crowd might be the ones to do it. Do you think it should be a tv series, or a series of movies? Or both? grin
