Secret Service is too busy kidnapping people very gently.
I'll be honest, the alt text made me wonder what "medge" meant for a few minutes. I even Googled it before I realised.
You know, you can only do the "he's a ninja" thing so many times before it gets old. Especially since we didn't get to see how he was captured in the first place, it's kind of disappointing to not see his escape in its entirety.
I'm also a bit disappointed that Mitzi apparently really wasn't trying to break him out. What was the deal with their phone conversation then? Did we just read too much into the "sweetie" remark?
But I'll admit this page was pretty badass. Here's hoping it gets better from here on.
I like to think Mitzi was about to, until "he" showed up at the house.
Look we all knew it was coming...
(I would like to see that adventure as a TPB bonus)
Oh, dear. *holds head*
At least the sequence of events was not left completely unexplained.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Is it just me, or has the comic's pacing been really choppy and awkward lately? I'm almost inclined to think the author's getting impatient to end the story already.
I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.Yeah I feel the same way.
<.< I took this as a spoof of the "HE IS A NINJA" explanation, because it appears over the actual explanation, "I fiddled with the lock. It wasn't that hard."
As the cell was intended to be suspended at the bottom of the ocean, the architects apparently didn't put that much effort into designing the door to be super-impossible to open. Random-ass teenagers open doors that were meant not to be opened all the time.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.That makes sense, he opens the door, he dies.
I'm not sure how doors designed to hold under pressure work, but it's clear that King Radical wanted Dr. McNinja alive. Even if he was put in there before the cell was submerged, the door is probably made to resist to pressure and they didn't give much thought into him being able to fiddle with the lock.
The possibility of Doc finagling the lock open and crushing himself to death under the pressure of the ocean probably never crossed their mind as more than a mild afterthought.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Or, rather, they discarded it as something he'd be too stupid to attempt. Either way, it's the same result. Presumably he could have picked the lock at any time, save for being thousands of feet underwater.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"He is a ninja, so therefore he's good at opening locks.
I have a message from another time...I like to think they left the lock simple just to taunt him.
Yeah, that's what I've been thinking myself—"He is a ninja" isn't a big deal in this case. Opening a locked door should be simple, especially after the laundry list before it.
How often has "He is a ninja" come up, anyway? Only time I recall was in "Space Savers" with the game ranger.
"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984Yeah, he did owe Radical that much.
I'm starting to wonder if this comic will end with the two of them becoming best friends.
Space Savers was the only time he explicitly did that joke. I was talking more about the attitude of "we don't need to show you what happened, you can fill in the blanks yourself." HIAN was an exaggerated form of that for a joke, and it worked well there because the problem was so mundane (relatively speaking, for this comic).
However, I am officially withdrawing my complaint after this most recent page, which is not only a great callback to the original HIAN joke (seriously, I didn't realize he was actually going to do that when I wrote my previous comment, I guess I'm just a prophet) but wraps up the problem by pointing out that after torpedoing himself, getting back home really wouldn't be that big an issue for him.
So, chalk this whole mess up to me being impatient with the 3-page a week format and jumping to conclusions ahead of time.
edit: I'm still confused about Mitzi and the phone call, though. That part of my complaint still stands.

I believe we'll be getting an answer soon since we just saw Mitzi & family about to kill faux!Doc.
Doc really should have remembered to take care of those after Space Savers...
you'll then have a grave in the clouds where you won't lie too crampedTime for a fire escape.
I have a message from another time...He's going to pull the negazone switch again isn't he.
Yeah, my money's on Negazone. Maybe he and the president will have wacky adventures in there or something.
I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.I'd ship it.
But seriously, was this all part of King Radical's plan? Because if he wanted Doc alive, this doesn't seem to be a good turn.
Unless "death by nasaghast" is the only death rad enough for his arch-enemy?
He probably replaced them with his "cool" buddies. And those guys failed to notice that a bipedal horned horse killed their previous king.
