Good work. Sleep well. I'll most likely kill you in the morning.

Avatar from here.I'd say good...my guess is that Annie's gleeful at how she was able to have an extended time in her dad's presence and everything more or less went smoothly.
Guess I'll be the one to say bad, then, as in a "feigned good mood over, mask coming off now" face. Maybe.

Annie was secretly replaced by that person who runs the rebirth facility for immigrants from Gillitie.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.Annie has gone cat.
It is Katurday.
I think she is happy that she technically got praised.
Writer, or something. And... a button? 🖲️Annie with cat eyes is creepy as fuck.
I saw the smile more as a genuinely happy one. She's glad she got to spend time with her dad without it being incredibly uncomfortable.
...
Poor girl.
Cheshire cat?
This is... actually pretty sad.

It's pretty soul-crushing, yeah.
Kat is busy apologizing, bur for Annie this is already the best interaction we have ever seen her have with her father, which isn't saying much.
I was actually hoping that Katurday would bring a much needed confrontation between Annie and Tony. Instead, we have the opposite effect in which Tony's behavior is further normalized to Annie. *sigh*
I take a different tack, preferring to see the first steps in normalizing Tony to Annie's presence. This has been day one of exposure therapy. It's going well.

I understand your point, but think about this:
How is it that Kat - a teenage girl - is in charge of setting up this much needed therapy?

by using science!
"Never let the truth get in the way of a good story." TwitterNobody else can or will?
You just hit the nail on the head.
Tony needs help, that much is undeniable. But shouldn't he...I don't know....want to be helped? Kat pretty much had to trick him into spending time with Annie.
I'm no therapist, but my understanding of the issue is that you can't just corner someone into a situation and expect them to get better.

They're not confronting him, as we've seen that only puts him on the defensive and makes him retreat. They're easing him into a different mindset, which is the opposite of cornering him. Essentially they are tricking him. They're giving him memories and emotional contexts relating to Annie that aren't bound up in guilt, failure, grief and hopelessness.
As for Tony, I'm pretty sure he does want to be on better terms with his daughter, he's just overwhelmed the the current aforementioned emotional contexts he currently places her into. He could have left when he saw Annie, or ordered her to leave. He didn't.
Creed of the Happy Pessimist:Always expect the worst. Then, when it happens, it was only what you expected. All else is a happy surprise.I don't think he does want to be on better terms with her, actually. I think he feels she's better off without him because angstangstangst.
That was kind of sad, she expects so little.
Well, glad to be wrong, but Cat Smile Annie was still a bit...weird.
Baby steps. The amount of grief/guilt between these two over Surma is just staggering.
You know, I'm good with that.
