Aang gets freezer burnt a few decades in, Gran Gran becomes the Avatar.

Well, let's ask, then:

In an alternate universe, Gran Gran, the wise and elderly matriarch of the Southern Water Tribe, discovers that she possesses the ability to bend all four elements. This revelation comes at a time of great turmoil as the world teeters on the brink of imbalance. With the Avatar nowhere to be found, the responsibility of restoring harmony falls upon her shoulders.

As Gran Gran grapples with her newfound powers, she embarks on a journey to master each element and fulfill her duty as the Avatar. Along the way, she encounters various challenges and adversaries, testing her resolve and wisdom.

One significant difference in this alternate timeline is the perspective and approach Gran Gran brings to her role as the Avatar. Unlike Aang, who initially struggled with the weight of his responsibility and yearned for a carefree life, Gran Gran embraces her duty with a sense of purpose and determination born from a lifetime of experience.

Gran Gran's journey also brings a unique cultural perspective to the story. As a revered elder of the Water Tribe, she draws upon the traditions and teachings of her people to navigate the challenges ahead. Her wisdom and deep connection to her heritage influence her decisions and shape her interactions with others.

The dynamics among the characters shift as well. Gran Gran's maternal presence and unwavering guidance inspire those around her, fostering unity and strength among the nations. Her mentorship of Katara and Sokka takes on a deeper significance as she imparts not only the art of bending but also the wisdom of leadership and compassion.

As Gran Gran confronts the forces of darkness threatening the world, her journey becomes a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the power of wisdom and compassion to overcome adversity. In the end, she restores balance to the world, leaving behind a legacy that transcends generations.

Overall, the story of Gran Gran as the Avatar would be a tale of wisdom, resilience, and the enduring power of hope in the face of adversity. It would offer a fresh perspective on the Avatar's journey while celebrating the strength and wisdom of older generations.

Chat seems to like the idea, at least.

Well, I don't think it took until old age for any avatar to recognize their abilities. But its Chat GPT so it just worked with what's there instead of making a new scenario with a younger Gran Gran.

Yeah, that's just vague cookie cutter nonsense. It's autofilled some generic hero's journey thing because ChatGBT isn't actually creative or intelligent.

I think it reasoned under the assumption that she would discover her powers at the start of the show and worked from there. I'm sure we can ask for a scenario where she discovered it earlier.

The show does leave open the possibility of such a late discovery, though, since it usually takes an active search for the Avatar to discover them, and a latent Avatar living in a remote area just may go unnoticed if not in the opportunity to accidentally discover a second element.

Or she might discover it by herself while young, and keep it secret out of fear, especially if she heard what happened to the Air nation.

[up] Maybe, but go and try it for yourself.

[up] It didn't reason shit. It's not intelligent, it's glorified autofill. All the text it can find about Gran Gran say she's an old woman so that's what it goes with.

Would that change what it was and how it works? No.

And No. I write my own fanfic in so far as fanfic can be my own.

But this is swiftly getting off topic. So I'll say no more on the topic.

Just because you're uncomfortable with it doesn't mean it's off topic.

And it's really a lot more complicated than just copy pasting into scripts. You can set up a scenario like those I mentioned, and keep asking it questions about how it would change the plot, how it would affect other characters, how the plot would change, etc. And it just keeps giving plausible answers. And you can ask it why it thinks that, too.

There's a reason people are worried about this thing's effects on creativity, and I can see why now.

No, you're moving this into a discussion about how powerful you think Chatgpt is rather than about the show itself.

The discussion of the last few posts hasn't even been about the show. It's about whether or not Chatgpt is good at coming up with a fanfic of the show.

No, it's not. Your last post didn't even say a thing about Avatar. It was lecturing another poster about Chatgpt.

It's off-topic and it's making other posters annoyed.

Dave Bautista's character will be a water-bender who wants revenge on the fire nation. He will either try to wipe out the fire nation or take their bending away through some spirit shenanigans.

[up] Is that announced information or speculation? I hope they're not going to try and do Amon before Amon in the film. It would be disrespectful to Korra.

That does sound like they want to do Amon before Amon. I guess the moviemakers are writing their own fanfiction too now.

I find it ironic that you guys were just complaining about me discussing AU ideas for this show, and then this news comes out. grin

I'm guessing it's just speculation. I don't hate the idea of another Waterbender villain, but considering Korra had 3 big ones, I'd hope that the villain of the movie would be an Earthbender. Kuvira's the only main villain Earthbender, whereas we have tons of Firebender villains from Avatar (plus one minor Waterbender villain).

Granted, we have even fewer villainous Airbenders (just Zaheer), but there's... kind of a reason for that. I think Mai and Ty Lee are the only significant non-Bender villains, since Amon turned out to be a fraud, so maybe the next villain could be a non-bender. They're not super flashy, though.

Don't forget Asami's father back when he was working with Amon. The Equalists wouldn't have been as big a threat with his tech.

It's an ATLA movie set years after Aang vs Ozai. Unless the villain is going to be Yakone, there's gonna be a new villain.
