Good adult relationships
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Good day, my dear ninja enthusiasts!
I used to watch Naruto years ago, but stopped during the filler episodes between the first season (or whatever you call that whole first "half"?) and Shippuuden when they somehow managed to still ruin an episode in which Naruto and Hinata get to be close for a while, which is just unacceptable!
I'm kinda interested in seeing the rest, but I also hear that the whole thing went pretty downhill in general, so I'm not sure if I actually want to watch all ten-thousand episodes of the anime? So. I dunno. Should I just try speed-reading the manga or did they make some decent movies that summarize the arcs or should I watch an LP of the games or something like that?
I'd say just read the manga. Won't take you too long if you have time to spare.
As for the whole thing going down-hill, that's a bit YMMV in my opinion.
If you're a fan of any non-team 7 character, get used to not seeing them as much unless they're called Shikamaru. It focuses more on Akatsuki and their Tailed Beast hunt, and mostly Team 7 opposing them, with assists from the others.
The battles get a little bit less tactical (like the excellent Shikamaru/Temari fight) as time goes on and a little bit more ass-pully when you start going nearing the end (so, it basically follows Dragonball's example to a certain degree there ) - I personally enjoyed the hell out of it right down to the end.

"...in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach."No such movies exist, the filler gets worse later because it started getting higher ratings than canon episodes, manga would be much faster and also completely not worth your time.
You escaped. You could leave it at that.
It is nothing like Dragon Ball.

What a passionate sales pitch.
It's a bit like Dragonball. Nonsense power ups out of thin air, one of which is not dissimilar to a Super Saiyan mode.
I agree though, don't watch the fillers. The movies are all filler too, apart from the last one, which is basically a canon 'hahahahahaha, screw you Naru Saku fans' - the movie.
As you can tell, the whole series got a bit YMMV by the end. I enjoyed it a lot, and would heartily recommend you give it a go. My fellow troper here suggests you move on to different things. Only you can decide.
(I don't know which one of us is the blue pill and which is the red pill though, so...)
"...in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach."My issue is that isn't really accurate for Dragon Ball, at least not from the move from DB to Z. The level of strategy did not significantly go down, the random power-ups were present from the beginning.
Which makes it really different from Naruto's decline, because Naruto basically ended up as something that went completely against the ideas expressed early in the series. Unlike what a lot of fans paint it as, early DB was never out to paint skill or strategy in a more important light to strength - the series has always been consistent with its focus on great strength, etc.
Well, I mostly agree with that, though I would only say that the strategy was noticeably better in part one, and they didn't actually abandon it later on. Some of the sharingan fights were certainly not power level nonsense, for example. And those fighting the resurrected Kages and ninjas also had to think tactically, since there's no way they could match these guys head-on.
Basically, part one had a bunch of apprentice ninja using what they had (i.e. not much) to the best of their abilities to deal with situations. Part two had those ninjas getting more powers, so they didn't have to scrape through with wits so much. Frankly I though part 2 still had some pretty great fights, even if they were less tactical/strategic because of their larger scale.
"...in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach."It's not because they were apprentice ninja. Kakashi says that's the way fights should be, and Hiruzen vs Orochimaru was meant to be a huge deal despite not coming anywhere close to the scale of Part 2 fights.
It was a huge deal, but they were boxed into a relatively small space by that giant barrier technique, and they still had to fight in a newly-grown forest. The end of part 1 Naruto-Sasuke fight was arguably on a larger scale than that.
I'm still saying the strategy was better in part 1, FYI.
Damn, talking about it about it just makes me want to read the whole thing over again...

"...in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach."There were multiple attacks that just rearranged the landscape in part 1, they weren't something Part 2 made up, they certainly became a lot more common though.
The problem with the Power Creep was applying it to the older characters that appeared in Part 1 AND the long dead characters resurrected for the War.
Oh yeah that's true, I mean just compare Hashirama when he battled Hiruzen as a zombie to pretty much everything he's capable of after Part 2. Now I don't care whatever excuse they use but its kinda bullshit the severe disparaging power levels he's shown in either parts.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."So because Sukedachi Nine doesn't have thread, I come here to discuss it :D
Nothing to say besides "Geez, thats bit over the top bloody dinner table"
Why dont you just make one? Try making the first post good because they may close it if its bad though.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.Surprising absolutely nobody, there's gonna be a Boruto anime.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.I REALLY REALL REALLY hope they wont use the hideous Boruto Manga designs.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.Well the first visual shows that while there prolly using the designs the art is apparently more cleaner & less off-model so that's a good thing.
I really hope thought that the anime takes place after the movie. For the love of God it better not start with a retread of the movie like Super.
Also I gotta seriously question Kishsimoto when he said that he plans on making the Boruto anime better than Naruto. Seriously the guy actually said that, is he insane or something? That's not something you say for reals.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."To be fait, the Naruto anime DOES leave a LOT to be desired. I would like to be optimistic and say Kishimoto really is commiting on improving the Boruto anime...but experience tells me otherwise.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.Eh, "This new, upcoming project will be even better than the previous, super-popular one that you already enjoy!" is pretty standard PR talk. You need to remember that outside of the Internet Naruto is a beloved megahit.
Also not sure what you mean about it using the manga designs; the poster clearly has Salad in her Kishimoto outfit.
Why do I feel like this is going to end up like Dragon Ball Super; a monthly manga running alongside a weekly Anime. So be prepared for some filler guys.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. The Okutsuki villain from the movie has a much better second form in the manga at least unlike generic ogre.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Apparently among other things for Boruto we will be getting a Mitsuki focused arc next, Kawaki will be met and Metal Lee's mother will be revealed.
Well, it's going to be a few more months before the anime finishes covering the novels. At a rate of 1.5 manga chapters per episode, it would then take another 2 months for the anime to catch up with the manga.
Also, if Celebrity Net Worth is right, Kishimoto spends too much to retire at this point. Sure, he's scaled back from publishing a Naruto chapter every week, but he still needs to maintain a salary/royalty income stream. CNW pegs Kishi's net worth at $20M, whereas I'd estimate his career earnings at about $200M. Spending at that rate, there's no way he can make $20M last the rest of his life, even with residual income from the Boruto manga and anime dubs. He has to either work to maintain the Naruto franchise or get another serial published.
