I love the smell of non-canon complaint anime only backstory in the morning.

I don't understand how this pre-historical-japanese-mythlike story combines with the fact one of the powers of Rinnegan is to transform your body in advanced weapons. I mean, Nagato transformed his arm in a laser cannon. Not one of his puppets bodies where he could have implanted weapons, himself.

Ah, yes, I forgot, consistency. Something no longer exists on Naruto.

I wasn't too interested but while indulging some nostalgia by reading Chunin Exams versus matches on some other forums, I found one that put CE Sarada against the CE version of her pops. Now I want to see the damned movie but they haven't released it yet.

Yeah, no. Just inconsistency. Because making full use of the setting that Kishimoto created takes effort, and fuck forbid any of that go into writing Naruto.

So I'm re-watching Sasuke vs. Deidara and it made me think when could Sasuke take a solid 10/10 against Deidara instead of barely managing to win.

But that in turn made me think...wait, could Naruto at this time even scrape a win against Deidara? And the answer is a big old no. Naruto at this point couldn't do half as well against Deidara as Sasuke did.

It's like, MS was Sasuke going up a level. It was perfectly in line with his progression. He wentfrom fighting a lower kage level shinobi like Deidara to fighting more mid-level kage like A and Danzo.

Naruto, though... Sage Training was like him going up 10 levels. I can't think of a single Akatsuki Naruto could beat before Sage Mode except Hidan. But opf course, come SM, and now he's tangling with one of the strongest Akatsuki members.

He was really lagging behind Sasuke for a good while there.

It really annoyed me how post-timeskip Naruto showed such little improvement.

Ignoring the poisoned poison,he could've taken on Sasori I think.Just with sheer numbers.Not win,but maybe a decent fight compared to the rest.

Only a decent fight. I mean unless he goes Nine-Tails Sasori's lethal puppets will overwhelm his fleshy clones. Even Naruto's victory against Kakuzu is somewhat unearned as he only came near the end of the fight & banked everything on a literally day-old Jutsu.

Though I now realize that Sasuke & Deidara's fight was pretty good beside the ending. I mean both parties were evenly matched, ending with both utterly exhausted of chakra though Deidara got the last life cause his suicide bomb would have gave him the win if it Sasuke didn't have plot armro

It's funny how Deidara's hate for the Sharingan seemed a little obsessive at the time...Then after he died Sharingan was revealed to have more and more overpowered jutsus until Naruto became "Uchihas and their blonde cousin."

And very quickly Naruto Gaiden became "Sarada and....ok, we basically tricked you with the cover with Naruto and Boruto."

Despite having a different writer, I still think Boruto will be "Sarada Uchiha and her Hyuga cousin".

If Naruto goes berserk and four tails it he might just bijudama Deidara out of the sky but I'm not sure if that counts.

Well, Naruto is a bad matchup for Sasori. Sasori's main thing is the puppets thing, and Naruto can do that better thanks to the Clonespam.

The worst part about the lack of real improvement that Naruto shows isn't so much the lack of improvement itself, but the fact that we know they could've done way better. Naruto is talent incarnate, the fact that he came back from his training trip with just an improvement to his Rasengan (but still without the ability to use it one-handed) was a very big letdown to start with, but became even worse when compared to the leaps and bounds he made in much less time.

Well unless Naruto can detonate them in mid-air Deidara could dodge them.

Also I gotta feel bad for the guy. He truly gave Sasuke one of his most brutal battles & in the end doesn't even bother to remember the guy. Neither does Itachi think of him in any way. I mean even if Deidara had a blood-release he still worked hard for his art compared to Sasuke & Itachi who never put the same heart, soul & effort into their craft.

The clones are pretty fragile though & its not like he uses them for anything other than zerg-rushes unless there's only like three.

Just because Naruto is dumb doesn't mean that his powerset isn't good counter to Sasori's. Naruto himself will never think to use clones as suicide bombers, will never think of having them stand back and spam long-range techniques or even of having a massive wall of clones just throw every weapon in their arsenal in the enemy's general direction, but he is strong enough to beat each and every one of Sasori's puppets one on one, and he certainly can make a hundred clones to beat Sasori's ultimate technique.

He also has gotten creative with them at times. True, most of it is ultimately pretty basic stuff, but in a world where people are as stupid as they are in Naruto, a strong foundation is all you need.

Like WTF you were the real leader of Akatsuki? AND AN UCHIHA!!!!

Although he's a very different Uchiha to Sasukeand Itachi. I always got the feeling Deidara didn't hate the Sharingan so much as he hated how stoic the two of them were. He wanted to rattle them, to see some reaction, probably fear, in their eyes. Tobi is much more emotive.

I dunno, I got the feeling that he hated Itachi personally, more than the Uchiha clan.
