* SugarWiki/AwesomeArt: This comic introduced the world to Vivienne Medrano's highly distinct, absolutely gorgeous art style full of fluid lines, vibrant colors, and a CastOfSnowflakes. And she only got better with time. The “Bad Luck Jack” short doesn’t look too shabby either with its diverse array of colors and expressive animation.

* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: During the “Bad Luck Jack” short, the climax has the main characters pull a BigDamnHeroes moment to save Jack from being eaten by a monster as Spam sings about fighting said monster... but then, completely out of nowhere, he gets distracted by a bumblebee and starts singing about how much he likes bees instead. This goes on for a little bit before Spam remembers he’s supposed to be helping the others save Jack, so he goes back to his “monster fighting” song and his ode to bees is never brought up again.

* DesignatedHero: The denizens of Safe Haven can be seen like this. While it is not their fault that Cameron was [[spoiler:fraudulently]] sent there, they effectively kidnap her by not letting her leave. This is despite the FantasticRacism against humans (as revealed in supplementary materials) and her zoophobia. The In-Universe justification being that letting her leave will "corrupt" the barrier that wards off "dark forces". However, it is a plot point in chapter three [[spoiler: that the barrier doesn't work]] thus eliminating this excuse.

* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: Chapter three wants you to feel bad for Damian. This can be hard since he abuses his cousin, [[spoiler: tries to sabotage Zill's relationship with Kayla, sneaks off to Safe Haven without his parents knowing [[TooDumbToLive thus putting his life at risk]]]] and threatens a man insulting him with violence.

** Leonardo of the twins could probably use a good cuddle as well, as he's much more nervous and awkward than his suave brother Vincent.
