- Harsher in Hindsight: Less than 45 years after the (nearly completed) work was presented to Shenzong, the Northern Song fell after Shenzong's 11th son Huizong and Huizong's son Qinzong were abducted by the Jurchen Jin. Huizong's reign was characterized by many of the issues which Sima Guang had warned against in the work.
