  • Alternative Character Interpretation: It's debatable whether Leigh Ann is truly in love with Daniel, or if she's mostly with him to further her political ambitions and because she can easily manipulate him into doing what she wants. While she talks a lot of how much Daniel loves her, she doesn't really mention loving him. He's the one who puts effort into their relationship beyond his political career (including having been willing to give up his seat in Albany to save their marriage) and he at one point notes that he thinks Leigh Ann loves him "almost as much as he loved her", hinting that deep down he also suspects Leigh Ann doesn't quite feel the same way. Notably, Leigh Ann didn't kill Martin because she was worried he would tell Daniel of their affair, confidently insisting he would forgive her and would "never leave [her]"; instead, she killed Martin because he threatened to expose their affair to the public, which could ruin her and Daniel's political ambitions. Combined with her sociopathic and narcissistic traits, Leigh Ann gives the impression of caring about Daniel more as a Meal Ticket than a romantic partner.
  • Funny Moments: While shopping for apartments, Alex and Laurie overhear their prospective neighbours arguing, with the wife accusing her husband of lying about going on a business trip and instead being in Atlanta with his secretary, to which he insists she's being delusional. Later, Laurie tells Alex she hopes they'll never end up like that couple, to which Alex says "We won't. I can't stand Atlanta!"
