- Anti-Climax Boss: As the last Totem head to collect, Tombstone is hyped up to be a major opponent — his levels are themed after skeletons and death, he directly gloats to Woody in a loud, deep voice before he even enters the area, and even the other Totem heads talk about how dangerous he is and how he destroyed Atlantis the last time he was freed. One might rightfully expect a tough final boss that puts your platforming skills to the test... and then be surprised when it turns out to be a small green monkey with a paddle that you have to lure into hitting a toilet handle a few times, which is much easier to perform than defeating any of the prior bosses.
- Best Known for the Fanservice: While it was unknown for several years after release, the infamous topless mermaid will most likely be brought up when discussing this game these days.
- Memetic Mutation: "It's time to start sketchiiin'!" Woody's Character Catchphrase has caught on with a number of artists, for obvious reasons.
- So Bad, It's Good:
- "Yo-Ho", the first boss theme, in which a group of pirates rap about the obstacles in the first level with the vague melody to "Turkey in the Straw". It has been compared to Limp Bizkit, even though the game came out before the band existed.
- The cutscenes qualify due to their low-quality CGI animation and hamminess from Woody.
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: There's a surprisingly deep moment after Woody introduces himself where he notes, to his confusion, "Golly... I know my name, but it seems that's all I know." Unfortunately, instead of using this to build on his character, he goes straight back to being "all-attitude" immediately afterward.
